If (and after recent results its remains a fairly big if), we get promoted to the Championship, do you guys reckon Johhnie Jackson is up to it and should be relied upon, not only as our first choice LM, but also as our captain?

It appears he's extremely injury prone, he came off yesterday with an injury for the god-knows how many'th time this season, plus he's been with us for three seasons now, and in every one of those seasons he has got a pretty serious injury, missing a decent number of games. He's also accused of going anonymous in games quite often, is pretty slow for a 'winger' and isn't particularly vocal for a captain.

That said, the teams performance always seem's to drop when he's out of it and his goals have been very valuable, so...

    ...what do you guys reckon?

Definately is up for it, whether or not first choice player is yet to be determined. Either way it would be vital to have a equal standard player as cover as you say he is rather injury prone.

Much as it pains me to say it I think JJ is one of the players we will be looking to replace next year. He is a super player and has made a terrific contribution this year. But his lack of pace will I think get found out at a higher level. In fairness to him he is not a winger!! He will be a squad player next year.

His quality is not the issue.

But he's getting older and his fitness is suspect. Jimbo has it right I think - squad player next year

He always seems to be an inspirational captain in as much as our results appear to be poorer when he is injured. If he is to be a squad player he wouldn't be skipper. Who from our current squad would have that degree of inspiration?

The only captaincy options from the current crop would be (in order of CP's preference) Taylor, Hollands and possibly Morrison.

I'm sure most of us wouldn't really want us to sign a player in the summer and immediately make them captain (look at last time that happened...), but I can't really see that many true 'leaders' in our team who would be good enough to be ever-presents in the Championship. My vote would be for Morrison, though perhaps he's a bit young.

Definitely Morro, out of the 3 you mentioned, he is the only cert to be playing week in week out - the other 2 will poss be squad players.

I think he should be put in the middle of the park and remain captain, end of! Leads by example and is good enough to be in the first 11 in the championship.

I think JJ will end up becoming a LB later in his career. Next season I think he will have to go in to the middle as I would prefer an out and out left winger. He is up to the standards of Championship football, and I'd like to think a definite for next season.

Agree 100% - every game we've played this season without him, he's been missed - besides, and I know this may be a none-too-serious point for some, but who's going to take the penalties with the same success rate?

Probably hoof it so hard it would rebound off the crossbar the length of the field and in. When asked why would claim he was looking for Kermo to head the rebound.

Picking a balanced team might seem like the simplest thing but not too managers can. JJ can.
