Is he the answer to our goalscoring problem? On todays showing I'd say no. Less than impressed with him, hope he proves me wrong when he's upto speed, but he looked average at best out there today.
Fraid Knot! We'll fade out of the promotion race as a result of the impotence Nick Barmby seems happy to accept! If he doesn't show some leadership and sort out the elephant in the room he be out as the performances and results go against him
His touch looked very poor today, he lost it almost immediately after getting the ball each time. Also the one time he beat his man he ignored Evans on the edge of the box who would have easily scored and he was lucky that his wrong ball found it's way to Garcia who forced that save from the keeper which took attention away from his bad choice.
Talented players struggle against teams in ****ty leagues. Stewart did nothing at Yeovil and Dudgeon did very little at Carlisle. Give him time!!
Listening to him on Radio Humberside he admits he is not very match fit at the moment, he has hardly played for the past few months, give him chance to settle in before writing him off.
Not writing him off at all. I was just saying that he was average at best, fingers crossed he will come good. But, we need someone to start scoring regular, not someone who needs to get fit then settle in. We need goals NOW. We still need a proven Championship goalscorer in the squad.
He hasn't played a competitive game(other than a cameo at Reading) since October last year, it's far to early to judge him, but he showed moments of quality and I think he'll probably turn out to be a decent addition. I'm not sure he's enough though, we lack goals and I'm not convinced that he's the answer.
I think the big problem is that when teams defend against us and the onus is on us to go and attack them, we just can't get past their endless defenders. I don't know what kind of player will help solve this problem but it really is a big deal for us, it's cost us so many points over the last year.
I thought King looked ok today, tried to make things happen and with a bit more game time we'll see his worth to the team.
Far too early to tell. He's played less than an hour in the last 6 months. He needs fitness, match fitness and then he can show people what he has to offer. There was one instance in the first half when he gave one of their defenders a 5 yard start and roared passed him in front of the West Stand chasing a ball. How anyone can possibly judge him on his first game after a long lay-off is beyond me.
Indeed he did look very quick, and it's wrong to write people off so early. These are simply first impressions of him.
Funny how people now have changed their tune just because we have lost to Crawley - we had our weaker side out now lets concentrate on Donny
How can Nick be happy with a player who hasnt played since October?? No one knows how long it will take him to become attuned to his teammates. People always speak of only poor desperate business gets done in January- well you cant get anymore desperate than this signing. By September he may be ready FFS.
I don't think he is the answer to our goalscoring problems. Too early to say that?? Maybe. But I thought previously that he'd be another top loanee from Man U, and he could well be, but I think we need another striker with proven ability in the top end of this league.
