Any 3 of 12 of those teams could go up at the end of the season the only one I would discount is the franchise who have always flattered to decieve

It might come down to who can get the best loanees. If a top Premier League side has tied a youngster to the club for 5 years, they obviously rate the highly. But with no chance of a first team place in the foreseeable future they will be loaned out for experience. Anyone who can get these gems on a season loan could be laughing

Erm I'm not sure they would be laughing Ron. We had a shed load of loanees from "top" clubs out of their youngsters last season. I have to say a number of them were less than exciting to watch. This season Lowe has gone down a different route having learned a lesson from that experience. The argument the green faithful had with all the loanees is why would we take somebody elses youngster for them to either use later or sell rather than try to bring in our own youngsters and give them experience. Tried an tested loan players are one thing but risking some supposed whiz kid in the making from above is another ball game altogether. Just as an example of this, the stupid worthless cup which includes prem clubs U23 players. These "boys" often get beat by the older more wiser supposed lesser players in that competition. We got better gems previously from the Championship in my eperience.

Interesting. The loanees we had last year were excellent. Maybe your manager took them on the word of the loaning club and only discovered they weren't so good when playing them. I don't know, just a guess in view of our contrasting experiences. Maybe we were just lucky

Unfortunately, one signed for Luton and one for Sheff W

I am afraid we have to accept we are now L1 & players want to play at the highest level they can. Especially the younger ones.

But it does not mean they will succeed, Millwall didn't fancy Fred & they are not exactly a top Championship side

    Hey Greeny,

Hope you're keeping well, mate. We have one lad on loan from Man City who is here for 2 seasons. He's played 3 games now and he's been the best player on the pitch in every game. He's the best 17 year old I've ever seen and a future England international, I'm certain about that.

I thought Sunderland were the best bet for promotion at 9/4

Now a bit short at 6/4

Wycombe are 1/2 to finish in the top half. That looks a good bet to me, given we are 5/1 for promotion and as low as 6/1 in places for auto promotion

If I opened up my virtual betting shop I would have a bet on the top half at 1/2

    That's buying money, Ron.

At this early stage, I'd say the top teams this season will be Sheff Wed, Wycombe, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Rotherham. I'd be astonished if any of those teams didn't finish in the top half.

You would think so wouldn't you. The best odds on offer for Sunderland though are 1/8. That is also buying money but probably quicker to make it on an equivalent cert on the race track
