sensiblegreeny...........The problem with your team layout is...........your playing with eleven players...........I did suggest the other day that Argyle should try it..........but that would need discipline, not Argyle's strong point.............they play quite often with ten, and a couple of times.............with nine...........they are still trying to work out whats best...........they should have a sneaky go at trying twelve.........maybe the referee wont notice...........refs do miss things at times, for instance.............Argyle PENALTIES.

One of the main problems last year was we had a young and naive defence in addition to that the team had been lacking spirit and fight for a couple of seasons. It can be a fine line between getting the players fired up and going too over the top. Hopefully this season we can get the balance right as the full compliment of players for 90 minutes would definetly be of assistance. Plym whilst your 12 man plan seems sound I think you may have forgotten that we will probably not have 12 players on the books next season!!!

from living in oxford the last few years, i can honestly say that the standard of football is not much better than the conference but the teams are generally much more attacking. we need basically need to ensure that we can pass properly, this will then lead us into the penalty area.

mexijan...........You must not forget the tea lady and her urn........scolding pace.......good at milking it..........a bit sugary with the ref (we need a bit of that)...........quite often gets into hot water (thats were the sugar can be handy with the ref again)...........unfortunately often spoons the final shot over the bar........but always up for the cup.

They say football is a simple game and so the definition of good football is football that wins games.

Crucial to this is the Fallon Debate: there's nothing wrong with a big strong central striker and playing it long when neccessary if he's able to do something appropriate:

    score himself
make chances for others to score
hold the ball up until others arrive

the trouble is that Fallon did none of these things well but there's no reason why someone else couldn't and as Sensible pointed out, this is going to be a rough old league.

I'm currently reading Bobby Charlton's book on his England career and he puts great stress on the importance of Hurst's strength and Hunt's intelligent running to winning the 1966 World Cup even though Greaves, who was left out, was the most skilful striker in the squad.

He also tells a possibly true story that Ramsey asked Alan Ball what happened when a man threw a stick for a dog. Ball said the dog fetched it and dropped it at his owner's feet. Ramsey supposedly said "well Alan, the ball is the stick and you are the dog. Your job is just to go and fetch the ball and give it to Bobby Charlton." So not all your midfielders need to have silky smooth skills either.

An effective big centre forward, direct play and plenty of goal mouth action at the right end and plenty of points will be just as good as pass after pass after pass. The question is, where are the players going to come from with peanuts to spend?

Get out your joking,I've been digging tunnels for months now.

She indoors keeps bringing in the sniffer dogs, so scuttling my escape plans.

PS..........sensiblegreeny............biscuits............Argyle did'nt supplied biscuits to the peasants last season ,even the teabags were being used twice. If we had mentioned it to Reidy he might have bought us some........I assume he's a coffee drinker and did'nt notice.

Fallon provided a Mickey Evans style role (albeit not very well). He may well do better in another team where he would have a capable striker up there with him (but then again he may not).

Don't think I am comparing him to Mickey Evans (legend) in anyway.<somersault>

I just love the way people still have a go at Fallon. It is still as if most of our on pitch problems were down to him and him alone. No he isn't as good as Evans at holding the ball up and laying it off although his goal ratio is about the same. Never a prolific scorer for Argyle was our Mickey. Evans had the likes of Friio on the pitch and one or two others better than the ones Fallon had around him. He is accused of not holding onto the ball. Well Mackie did his fair share of running it off the pitch and Bolaise was not always stuck to the ball either and gave it away as often as he kept it. The difference is that people grew to like Mackie and Bolaise and have NEVER liked Fallon much. Hence he comes into far more criticism than any of the others put together with the exception of Duguid.

My above comment was highlighting his role. Fallon's main issue was that he was the man everyone saw walking about while Mackie, Mason and Noone ran their guts out so he gets a lot of stick for that.

I agree with you on some points, given the same players to work with such as Friio, Wotton and Nalis he would have had the support needed. The main problem was the lack of support offered by the likes of Mason, Bolasie and Patterson this season.

Duguid has had a lot of stick as well but I think he as he is at the end of his career it is more down to a lack of ability to keep up with the speed of play nowadays. Example: When he played right back this season, the quick young wingers would run circles around him.

Evans always got a lot of stick from fans I used to sit with...Maybe its the curse of the targetman.

It does encourage hoofball which is only acceptable when you are winning for example whilst Evans played his part in our twin promotions. Hence another reason why Evans is a legend and Fallon is considered a donkey by many. My stance with Fallon is that he is not alone in the blame for our downfall on the field. There was nobody around him with an ounce of anticipation like a Tynan for example. Also the run around fast rabbits like Mackie and Bolaise lost the ball as often as he did but were forgiven because they ran around a lot. Not always productively but a lot nonetheless. It seems to me there are tinted glasses for some and magnifying glasses for others where fault is concerned. That by the way is not an endoursement of Fallon being great at anything particularly.

Fallon is about as good at football as I am at making friends (not that I care mind).

Useless pile of paceless, skill-less, talentless donkey pish that he is.

Classic case of Daddy opened a few doors with old Rory. He is about as suited to the job of a professional footballer as Gaddafi is to a human rights lawyer.

Get it through yer thick skulls, Fallon is crap and so are most of the rest of his buddies that were formerly our first teamers for the last 3 years hence why we have endured double relegation, a near miss and 3 years of park standard football.

    Wake up ladies.

I could try messages in cookies or even pole vaulting over the conifers, but next door will probably send me back for a reward.

Lets put it this way plymborn, what have you got to lose. If the plan fails then you can either tie a brush on the end and use it to clean your dentures or as a bookmark you can't misplace. That way you haven't even wasted your money.
