Noticed he lashed out at Steven Naismith at full time in the Edinburgh Derby today, causing some pushing and shoving, typical of him, always seemed bad tempered on the touch line
Bless. His little arms aren't long enough to make contact. Looks like he has his thumb tucked into his fist.
Football was ****, he was ****, arrogance in his interviews. Only advantage is that he followed Parkinson so looked better than he was
Neither true. Far from the worst and was not best mates with Speakman at all. The reality is, hard as it is for some to fathom, is he turned round a Parkinson team to one pushing for automatic promotion. He wanted Stewart. He wanted Baath. When Johnson landed the club was probably at its lowest ever ebb. He turned the ship.
He had obvious limitations, but certainly improved the team and quite a few players. Wyke had never looked like a footballer before Johnson's arrival. Those losing streaks though, they were the thing, and they have happened everywhere with him.
He played a big part in our revival. To think otherwise is to ignore reality and facts. He wasnt the best by any means, we were in league one after all, but he was what we needed at the time. He walked into a horrible side. He and Speakman alone had to work in ths tfr market and still got us Stewart. He got Wyke scoring goals, got and indian summer out of McGeady. He gave Dan Neil and Embleton chances which they took and be trusted them both. Sanderson was given his chance under Johnson and he partnered him with Onien. So many of the things he did were right, or worked. Even Neil said he walked into a very good setup thanks to Johnson. He seemed unable to change things at low ebs, and that may be a stubborness he has which holds him back. But he turned a corner for us and I think he deserves to be more fondly remembered than some do. Talk of him being here because he was mates with Speakman, or that his use of modern coaching language wasnt right, arent close to ths truth in my opinion.
That is fair enough. Didnt make him a terrible coach though and I maintain he put in some of the foundations serving us well now.
I totally agree mate, I actually liked him but I actually left a company and a brilliant job because I couldn’t stand listening to that s hit a day longer
Dont know about turning any ship around either , talking about "playing in the channels" he was , as it ran aground in Portsmouth Harbour . Total clown .
