HT: 2-0 down & Gelhardt misses the penalty he won. Noticed that Casey & Cresswell aren't even on the bench. Involved against Hull or injured?
We then gave away a penalty to go 2-0 down but our kids are playing well until we get in the box. Greenwood and Gelhardt nor great together yet but they win a oenalty and Greenwood wont give the ball to Gelhardt and tajes the pen himself but poor and saved. Half time 2-0 down Jacko is watching tonight as he takes over tomoz so Flores and coaches are running this and will smack a couple about the head, especially our strikers
Well that was a tough watch in the 2nd half with 2 stupid errors priducing 2 more goals. Never mind last season started as bad and ended up with us in 2nd place with a game in hand before the season was stopped. Last season we started as league and National champions but had moved on some players and replaced them with some U18s. It takes time to bed them in and this time we have half a dozen new players to bed in and are missing our 3 CBs tonight as Cresswell and Casey are saved for the Hull match and Struijk is with the first team
Looks like Huggins is doing a CB job today along with Casey which means Dramah as left back and Hosannah back at his right back role. Cresswell available on the bench too so we should have a decent back line for this match
Well disappointing second half as we concede 2 quick goals because of stupid defensive errors. We picked it up in the last 3rd of the game and battered Wolves with sheer class. 2-2 draw but wow we had a man of the match performance by Niall Huggins closely followed by the sheer brilliance of Joe Gelhardt (Joffy), Sam Greenwood and Cody Dramah. Dramah is the best defender in this division by far, wow. And the 2 front men a scarily good. The future is bright
The Wolves official site has given the following marks for Leeds players, and fairly I would say and shows where Jacko needs to have a word: Van De Heauvel 6 Hosannah 7.5 Casey 6.5 Huggins 8.5 McCalmont 6 Jenkins 5.5 McKinstrey 5 Gelhardt 8.5 Greenwood 8 Gotts 6 Dramah 7.5 Cresswell 6 Some really good performances let down by the odd average performance
Many thanks Doc, much appreciated highlights and comments. People seem to forget that we only need one or two gems to come out of the academy to make a real difference at 1st team level. There will always be some dead wood in there and also some late developers who need more time and patience. Too often though they are judged by supporters as a team when we're actually trying to develop individuals within a team framework and environment. Many are at very different stages of their evolvement into fledgling professional footballers but all seem to be working hard to try and forge a career in the game. One thing for sure is, they're extremely fortunate to have someone like Bielsa overseeing their progress and development as there are many coaches/managers who just wouldn't spend the time and effort that Marcelo does
Not too long and we’ll see if the Jamster can make it remind him Uncle Narco is happy to be his agent (for a moderate fee)
Final score Sunderland 1-3 leeds Utd 3 goals for Greenwood on a day when he was worth the entrance fee. He overshadowed his partner in crime Joe Gelhardt who wasn't at his normal best, but he had a good game except for not hitting the target. Leeds by far were the best team and Bryce Hosannah was close to being MoM if it were not for the hat-trick of Greenwood. The last 5 minutes were a joke as the ref sent off Cody Dramah for flicking the leg of a player who had just poleaxed him. The offending player was booked but so too was Dramah who was still on the deck and that meant he was sent off for a 2nd yellow. The ref was a joke anyway but after that we made an error at the back and Struijk was forced into giving away a penalty which was slotted away with the last kick of the match. 3 subs at half time as Davies, Shacks and Bogusz were replaced by Casey, Struijk and Gotts Leeds U23s looking imperious and this division isnt scary at all so far
