Anyone remember a couple of seasons back when we didn't get any penalties for a record breaking time. We worked out that every team got given a penalty on average every 7 games. We went over 30 games? And it seems we have also broken VAR as we were the first to have a goal chalked off for long armpit hair
Whatever about Chapmans weaknesses with the ball on the ground, he was brilliant in the air and he'd have scored twice yesterday IMO. Even a Matt Smith would have put his head on one of those crosses.
I keep hearing about the pitch and how bad it is, well good teams adapt. The last three games have been a hard watch and I personally have not enjoyed them.
We adapted well enough in the 70's when loads of grounds where like mud baths and mini duck ponds... Eddie gray glided over them no problem
I remember those days Oldschool. TBF though, compared to those days, ER yesterday was like a bowling green
Yeah i remember Chapman, hopeless with the ball or trying to run with it, but jesus in and around the penalty area, with feet or head it was good as a goal, but mind you we had quality crossers of the ball, Mel Sterland springs to mind.
Let's not use the pitch as an excuse. The lad in kalvins role was dire. Rodrigo has an unusual hairstyle and nothing else. Roberts looked interested and pablo can still pick a pass. Teams have worked us out and gaytown fc had better quality on the pith. Klich is not prem standard and never will be. Our set up is wrong and open to other teams to exploit.
Tough ****, it's a game of football, the pitches back when football was a mans game were in far worse condition. Are you telling me that Bielsa can't get his players to adapt to those conditions and play a different way. Brighton had to play on the same pitch, so IMO there is no excuse.
Burnley. They did a cracking job 2nd half. Sheffield Utd. Was second best mostly but dug in, stayed in the game and pinched the winner. Everton. Actually played quite well. Survived a few scares along the way.
Our pitch is relaid every 2 years but due to Covid and an extended season with a short break before new season started we never had the time to do it. So this pitch will be a year over its life cycle and the weather has been appalling, but if you cannot keep your feet you cannot play fast slick football, so I am blaming the pitch
I think the frustration yesterday was that some crosses were fantastic but nobody attacked the right areas.
