Huge boost to confidence (theirs and mine!) from a great performance from every player. Pukki scored a great goal from an excellent through ball from Emi. The defence really looked to be a unit today and made it hard for Leicester. Tettey and Trybull provided excellent cover and both FBs excelled. Both Emi and Todd looked class out there and worked hard in defence as well. Krul was unlucky with their goal after McLean gave Vardy just too much space, but that's Vardy's skill as well. Very well earned point and we could have won it as we created the best chances.
On Canary Call they said Pukki played the second half with a broken toe!! How could he do that? I want confirmation on this before I believe it.
Unlike RvW, it seems that a broken toe won't stop Teemu. DF confirmed that it is broken, but shouldn't be a problem which would stop him playing. against Wolves next week.
"We had to be more defensive in our tactics and set-up today and go from there but I think we could have had a few more goals today" (Pukki). Fine, but Teemu, could you please ask DF to set the team up this way EVERY game? Don't know what the equivalent is in Finnish, but here we say "The proof of the pudding is in the points gained" ..............
Bunch of boring ****ers you lot are! Ending both our winning run and Vardy’s run But overall I thought draw was fair. You played really well and probably best team we have played in some time. You didnt park the bus like even Arsenal did against us at the KP The Iheanacho incident was completely embarrasing. I think Maddison done the right thing we putting the free kick wide A few years ago we had the country willing us to win the league and probably have the same again this season. But to win games by bad sportsmanship like that would lose that for us and wouldnt sit right with us personally either So fairplay lads and keep playing like that and the points will come
Var cant get involved with restarts and ball doesnt have to be in the quadrant. Any part of the ball has to be at least hoovering over any part of the line
Sounded like we probably should have won,but offered an away point at Leicester before the kick off ,I would have snatched your hand off. Well done city,a fantastic performance and a huge confidence boost
Canaries only team in bottom 4 to get a point, Watford lost to Liverpool, Southampton lost to West Ham & Villa lost to Sheff Utd. Villa & Southampton (both on 15 points - 3 ahead of City) play each other next week. If we beat Wolves and Villa beat Southampton, we will go above Southampton on Goal difference, (15 points each (City current goal diff -17, Saints -18) but face Villa in our next game after Wolves, However, win that and we are level on points with them. (18 points each)
That could prove to be an important point against a top team. We need to produce performances like that on a consistent basis and with a strong emphasis on defence, as Robbie says. Four points from the next two would help, preferably with a win at Villa.
It is much better to be be a team written off as no hopers that spent **** all and deserved to go down than our rivals. That's all I'm saying
I wouldnt say that by any stretch. Either side could have won but to say you should have won is miles off the mark Neither side done enough to win and both defended well enough to get a point
Seems we've done rather well playing teams in blue this season - beat Man City & Everton, draw with Leicester. Need to beat someone in Red now or claret & blue.
Interesting Tactical Analsis https://totalfootballanalysis.com/m...ity-vs-norwich-city-tactical-analysis-tactics
I posted that on the season thread but it's more appropriate here, canario. Rodgers played the same line-up and formation as he did in the previous 4-1 thrashing at Villa, with two strikers and a diamond midfield. They were on ten straight wins and clearly he thought they could roll over us as well. Full credit to DF for our tactics, which forced Rodgers to pull a striker after 39 minutes because we were dominating the midfield battle. They did better after that, but were denied central through ball attacks by DF's defensive shape with Tettey and Trybull shielding the CBs. When Aarons went forward, Tettey would drop back into the half space to cover the right flank. Vardy got some half chances, but not much more. They got lucky with the own goal from one of their 10 corners, but had little else, as the analysis shows: "It is no wonder that Leicester offered no attacks through the centre. Out of their 52 total attacks, Leicester only attacked through the centre in nine of them, with an xG of 0.31. In terms of Leicester’s attacking prowess and talent, that is a serious short-coming in their attack. Conversely, this gap in the centre transferred to a defensive liability for the Foxes. With the midfielders positioned relatively far apart, the Foxes were left open in the middle. Norwich enjoyed much success in this middle as they recorded an xG of 0.89 with their attacks from the centre. The 4-2-3-1 from Norwich allowed them to take advantage of this gap as the three attacking midfielders can accordingly position themselves in the gaps and as such, find runners – something which Norwich does not have a lack of." We negated their attacking strengths and maximized our own. The praise for Buendia as the 'pivot' is well placed. He was my MotM for the way he controlled so much of the play and the chances he created. I just hope the final conclusion is realised: "The Canaries will no doubt take this display as motivation for playing themselves out of the relegation-sized hole they find themselves in."
