Bit of fun but thought this was an interesting chart which tries to measure 'luck'.

The vertical axis represents luck which is basically a combination of how well a team finishes their chances (high conversion rate) and how well they don't concede goals (where the opposition has a low conversion).

The horizontal axis represents how many high quality chances a team creates excluding penalties.

Focusing on Liverpool, it would imply that we've been quite unlucky in terms of us being able to create a high number of chances but not finishing them OR our opponents are finishing a high % of their chances. The good news is that our attack is creating a high number of quality chances - we just need to be more clinical.

The encouraging thing is that despite our lack of good fortune, we're still joint top. Whereas Spurs are creating very well but enjoying good fortune in both areas of the pitch which is unlikely to sustain.

There's a definite unconscious bias but it has nothing to do with race or religion imo. We live in a country that loves to pull deserving people down and push undeserving people up. Tough but true.

Not LFC but who gives a ****...

After 123 years and 4371 games, for the first time in history Juventus will start tonight's game without an Italian player either as their goalkeeper or in their defence.

    ...quality statistic that!

    Roberto Firmino:
Liverpool have a great squad of players, so earning a starting position here is not easy at all, and I am used to that. Diogo is an excellent footballer and another companion in the squad. I don’t have any personal battle with him.”

“Liverpool’s attack line is spectacular, and I would say comparable to any in the world, in any of the major leagues. Now this year I see it as being even better. And it’s not emotion that makes me say this, but simply a result of looking at the statistics.”

“As for me, I work hard in training – and then on the field I do what Jurgen Klopp tells me. That is my working philosophy, always.”

Chart to show the best tacklers / interceptors across the Big 6 teams this season:

Vertical axis represents tackles and interceptions which help to launch an attack
Horizontal axis represents tackles and interceptions which help to prevent opposition attacks.

Kante is unreal but you can see how good Fabinho and Hendo are.

Trent is such a big loss both in terms of defending and going forward ...

    Me too!

Interesting to see Jota on the list - normally, attackers are already quite high up in the pitch so they have less space to play progressive passes. Shows his ability to get on the ball from deep and get us up the field.

VVD would normally be near the top of that :(

Good shout. We have struggled for creativity in the past two games and it doesn't help that our two best passers from defence (VVD and Trent) are both out.

Maybe that's why there was an expectation that Phillips would leave - because although he appears solid defensively, he's not the versatile defender that Klopp likes. We've missed the forward movement that both Virgil and Gomez bring. I would like to see Koumetio in a competitive game. He was very impressive in preseason and unless I'm mis-remembering, he was very forward thinking.
