@JM Fan you're keen on the stats. Got any recommendations other than WhoScored and Experimental 3-6-1? They're the two I normally look at.
I was surprised to see that we're still 10 points clear of 7th place. The Blades are now 2 points behind us but they have had easier opposition in the last 3 matches and will have Forest, Derby and Brentford to come later.
I use this website for my info - http://www.footstats.co.uk/index.cfm?task=league_dashboard and. then export it to a spreadsheet. They can be a little slow updating the site.
How is that rating figure arrived at, it seems to make no sense. In the stats we have the best figure in 2, joint best in a third and second best in the fourth, yet we are only eighth overall.
The rating on WhoScored isn't limited to 'Offensive' stats. It's an overall rating covering all stats
A classic example of that is Buendia who scores a lot of points for his interceptions and tackles, as well as his attacking contributions.
This is something I learned not long ago: Possession % is based on the number of completed passes and not on time in possession of the ball. There's a lot of information on WhoScored but sometimes you have to go looking for it.
That's very interesting, CS, and explains why we so often dominate possession. Last year the possession was less productive, but now it's being turned into productive attacks.
We have a tough run of games in the next few weeks, but as you can see all the other teams in the top 6 have some tough games in the next couple of months. If you spot any errors, please let me know.
Great work JMF except that we seem to be playing both PNE and WBA on the 12th/13th of February. Think West Brom are playing Forest that weekend.
Some salary figures via Twitter for PL, Champ Lg1 and Lg2. No surprises with how it's skewed. Avg Championship salary appears to be just over 14k per week.
I don't understand what these tables are showing. Nevertheless, we're still in second after a tough run without key players. I'm quite happy; and anxious about any more injuries.
Sorry CS – it shows how each team’s form has changed from month to month. You beat me to it in saying that we’re still in 2nd place ahead of this weekend’s games.
Nice work with the stats JM, i'm partial to the odd spreadsheet myself. Speaking of which, in a valiant effort to avoid doing some real work, i put together some stats on the run in (i know i know too soon too soon). edit - god damn thats some big stats... My, ahem, expert analysis says! 1. We have a great chance to stay top, having navigated the choppy waters of the last run of games. We are only playing Bristol and Middlesbrough now in the top 7(with the slight warning of larger numbers of do or die games at the bottom). 2. Bristol are higher than they will finish. I expect Derby to comfortably get past them and finish warmly nuzzling in the top 6. 3. The chasing 3 in the pack are going to nibble points off each other no matter what. We are in a damn fine position what what. oh and also - hello again to all the long time posters here. I've not posted for ages, and changed my name from batterseacanary to bengalurucanary as thats where i now live. Its really nice to drop back in here and see lots of the same old voices (wheres superman these days?). Also good to see new voices too. This is a fab little place. please log in to view this image
So the latest 'supercomputer' predictions has us as Champions and 1p5wich bottom. https://talksport.com/football/efl/...le-super-computer-prediction-february-update/ They’re not expecting places to change greatly over the next 3 months or so. Some MASSIVE changes since the table at the beginning of Sep however!!!
We all know how well we've done bringing in quality players at bargain basement prices, but i thought i'd do a quick sum to see how much value we are getting for our money. I totaled up the transfer fees for all the players who featured in our game against leeds for both teams. Norwich players total transfer costs - 7.6 million GBP Leeds players total transfer costs - 28.2 million GBP wowsers.
