After seeing off Leicester last night, Liverpool at home to Aston Villa on Saturday 20 May 2023. Beating Leicester made it seven straight wins. Liverpool have two games left to end the season, I wish we have been playing like this since the beginning of the season, sadly we have not. Do not expect easy game from Aston Villa bur we have home advantage. Can MO Salah make it nine consecutive home score? Top four is no longer in our hands, but we need to win our games and depend on other results. This is going to be a big game now. The send off for bobby. this better be parked til the game is won. we don't need a half fit player wandering out for 30mins killing the team just cos. It'd be nice for him to score and all that but lets win the game first. once the final whistle blows then have all the niceness and hugs and stuff. no issue but wi nthe game.
I'd bite your hand off for a 1-0 win here. Having said that, Man utd play at the same time so it'd be useful if we score before they can, in case they do check our score midgame. Need to do what we can to pressurise them in what is otherwise a winnable game for them.
This was always going to be the hardest of our run-in games. Would say we're favourites but not a foregone conclusion. A win by one than one goal would be ideal to close the gap with Newcastle, we're not far off Newcastle's GD if you consider that they will have to drop points twice for us to catch them anyway... but can't be complacent.
villa have been liming along lately. Beat spurs at home (so what) Lost to wolves away Lost to man utd away Beat fulham at home drew with brentford away Beat newcastle at home. beat forest at home scraped by leciester away due to leicester red card This is at anfield. I fully expect them to be focused on a clean sheet here rather than really trying to win. Martinez Young Konsa Mings Moreno Bailey/traore Mcginn Luiz Ramsey Buendia Watkins Agasint utd they put in dedoncker as no 6 and took out bailey/traore I doubt we will have much of a shock from them tactically. It'll be a tight one and we need the first goal.
