I understand what you are talking about but I think it's all part and parcel of the same thing. Celebrations here always involve alcohol and we don't know how deeply he doesn't like that aspect of it. When he was on the bus going around the city for the CL victory he sat quietly at the back while they were drinking cans. He doesn't go mad with goal celebrations either.

I'd say don't worry but I know it's your hobby :bandit:

Only became aware yesterday that Fabinho's penalty was a panenka. Further investigation reveals that he has previous and he's rather good at them.

I loved this penalty. The sheer balls on the fella to try it in a final ...

    MITO hates it though :(

If you're going to try something in a final you have to be supremely confident. Ask Chelsea <laugh>

Since I know you like stats, I might point out that panenkas are less successful than other methods - or so I've read. Great when it comes off like...

I’d like to think that if you know a keeper always dives, then it’s a good penalty as it’s slow enough that it allows them to fully dive out the way before getting to the goal.

If you smash it you can sometimes it it too hard that it catches their legs before they’ve got out the way.

Given both keepers were diving early, chips down the middle were probably safest pen

yup. unless a keeper flops over its a disaster as in general they can get a leg back up when they see it.

pens are bread and butter unless the game is already won. If its 0-0 and you try that I'd dock you 2 weeks wages. If you did it in a pen shoot out in any comp (and the league cup is minor) I'd drop you and sell you.

We need to recall the last league cup final v city where coutinho tried this **** and missed first pen and we went to bits and lost.

By all means wait for keeper to flop and roll it in the other side but do it with deliberation such that you know you score.

Also: vvd.... big man and all that but same thing. keper being the dick. Don't rise to it. Put it in the bottom corner on the other side. smashing it in past the clowns head might make him look the dick he is but he could have got a hand to it.

I personally perfer to see pens smashed. The shoot out with middlesboro when long but every pen was really well taken. Or seeing germany when they were actually good smashing in every pen confidently into the side of the net.

On keeping technique, i do wonder sometimes if you can develop a dive such that you can save a poor pen but not try to reach the corner. Like say jota's one. it went almost under kepa. a block with legs is as good as anything and you never worry about rebounds so. is it worth stnading up and forcing the hit and then trying to almost slide low?
