We go again. First time in a long while since I've felt like we actually have a chance of getting a result away to them. Have to say I'm not buying into this whole media hype about us being favourites. We're definitely in form, but against West Ham some of ours looked visibly knackered - Bruno being one. I hope we start with our strongest 11 and take the game to them. Expect to see Shaw, Varane, Martinez, AWB. With Casemiro and Fred. Rashford, Bruno, Antony. Could do with some pace up front, but expect Weghorst to start. I wonder whether starting Garnacho with Rashford playing a false 9 wouldn't be a better option to dominate midfield and put pressure on their back 4. Come on United!
Defining game. If we win, we're in a title race. If we don't, we're looking at third (which is pretty good tbf). It'll be a ****er of a game and most likely result is a draw followed by loss, as we're probably due a blip. Fingers crossed though. Best to go into this with hope rather than expectation.
This is what I think as well. There is no way we should be “favourites” playing Liverpool at Anfield. They will be up for it like no other game. It has always been difficult going there regardless because form becomes irrelevant whenever we face those fkers.
The last good performance I remember there was when Mata and Herrera ran the show and we won 3-1 iirc? Regardless of being a complete nobhead lately, Klopp is a decent manager and he'll have them well drilled for this one. It really could go either way.
It's one of those games that is not always down to form, or at least rarely is. Can't see Liverpool not scoring. So we need at least two to win, obvs. We've got good form though, and the midweek was pretty much 'reserves', bar two or three players. No way should Dalot be anywhere near Salah, got to be AWB. Could do with Martial being fit at centre forward as Weghorst not really good enough for this game, and Rashford should definitely be coming in off the left. Toss up between Antony and Sancho off the right? Garnacho off the bench in this, imo. Midfield and defence are nailed; Casemiro, Fred, Bruno, AWB, Shaw, Martinez and Varane.
Basically because it's at your place and we know anything can happen in these games. Form wise, yes. I know it's a cliché but form does tend to go out the door. Maguire is now first reserve centre half btw, I'd have no issue in him playing personally, but he doesn't get in ahead of Varane and Martinez.
still think you have to be favourites as the areas where we have weaknesses are where you are strong . We are pretty reliant on Nunez causing problems as he has been the catalyst for most of our attacking threat this season .
We've just completely lost it defensively in the 2nd half. The games have caught up with us, and it's a shambles. Dalot at RB was a mistake. Also feel we should've started with Garnacho and played Rashford as a false 9. Oh well nvm, had to lose sooner or later.
This is definitely that blip! Hard work playing every three or four days and they all being must win games. Can't have been a great half time team talk though! **** sake.
