It's not fickle at all. The run in last year shown that LJ couldn't cut it. He has been given another opportunity with strong support on transfers and infrastructure. Going on another bad run is what Lee Johnson does. He has done it his entire career. Very streaky. He can not adapt or match up to a physical press and frankly his defensive coaching is awful. Havnt looked at it but I bet he has the worst clean sheets records we have seen for years. Does this side look like they are going up ? No. Therefore he goes. That's the absolute must this year. No ifs or buts. A must. Otherwise any positive start with the ownership group dies.
It’s all about opinions and I disagree with yours... I’m sick of this club changing the manager at the drop of a hat...
I would argue if we did those sackings at right time we would have went up. We shouldn't have let Ross have another season for example. Shouldn't have let Lee Johnson carry on too. That's why we have issues. We give then the benefit then get into the next season and nowts changed.
He has to go I agree. Wish we could sack some of those players as well by the way. Some of them have worked under 3 different managers now… the manager carries the can but they’ve let themselves and the club down massively over the last month.
This is the full list (Not including caretaker managers) we have had since Peter Reid... We change manager, on average, every 13 months....where has that got us in 19 years??? In business there is a saying, keep doing the same things, you get the same results, We have to break this cycle of hiring and firing. Even if Johnson is not the answer, as a club the owners and fans must realise where we are as club and make some LONG-TERM decisions and back whoever is in charge instead of this vitriol whenever things don't go as we want them Howard Wilkinson England 10 October 2002-10 March 2003 Mick McCarthy Ireland 12 March 2003-6 March 2006 Niall Quinn Ireland 25 July 2006-30 August 2006 Roy Keane Ireland 30 August 2006-4 December 2008 Ricky Sbragia Scotland 4 December 2008-24 May 2009 Steve Bruce England 3 June 2009-30 November 2011 Martin O'Neill Northern Ireland 3 December 2011-30 March 2013 Paolo Di Canio Italy 31 March 2013-22 September 2013 Gus Poyet Uruguay 8 October 2013-16 March 2015 Dick Advocaat Netherlands 17 March 2015- 4 October 2015 Sam Allardyce England 9 October 2015-22 July 2016 David Moyes Scotland 23 July 2016-22 May 2017 Simon Grayson England 29 June 2017-31 October 2017 Chris Coleman Wales 19 November 2017-29 April 2018 Jack Ross Scotland 25 May 2018-8 October 2019 Phil Parkinson England 17 October 2019-29 November 2020 Lee Johnson England 5 December 2020-Present
Long term is all well and good if you have the RIGHT manager. I am not convinced that Johnson is the right manager. He has nothing on his CV that suggests he is capable
i agree. Cup games are for the youth so he has time to sort the first team over the next couple of weeks. But He has to fix this so we perform against Ipswich or I think he is gone. KLD & Co must be reviewing other candidates to come in this December when we have several big ‘6 pointers’. Gives them time to review the squad and prep for the Jan reinforcements we need. It’s not too late, remember Blackpool and their run in. Fecking sick of this bollocks.
Yep, definitely not going Saturday... Our defending was keystone kop like... We were on the other hand unlucky not to score...
The Irony of the list I posted is that the most hated managed we have ever had (after McMenemy) is David Moyes, and he is currently sitting in a Champions League spot... Patience is sometimes a virtue.
Doesn't matter how many managers we have had. If they are not good enough then they should be sacked. We have lost lots of games already this season and had some right hidings also. LJ couldn't cut it last season and is proven he can't this season so should be sacked. This is Sunderland Football Club and we are in the third tier for 3 year running now and getting humped week in week out. We have lost 3 on the bounce in the league...he must be sacked.
Another point to be made about the list you posted mate,is the almost chaotic ownership....after Bob Murray to Quinny's Drumaville and on to the disaster that was Ellis Short. Whatever people, including many Hammers fans, may think of the Dildos and Brady, they do seem to know what they're doing. I was desperately hoping for a sustained period of stability after KLD took over.....doesn't look like we're going to get it. Someone else made the point a while ago.....it's only a fool who keeps doing the same things and expecting a different result.
You think we should have persisted with Moyes and he'd have us top 4 in the PL? Have a word mate. He was the worst manager we've ever had and the bloke is an absolute disgrace............and I say that as someone who is related to him FFS
pretty much what I said....But I guess I am in the minority and LJ will have an impossible job going forward. After our crowd have their claws into a manager there is (Normally) no turning back. I can't think of one instance in my 58 years going to watch the team where boos turned to cheers
He was terrible in the PL and really didn't start well, But I am more than confident we would not have had 4 seasons in League 1 if he stayed...Might still be in the championship tho
From Day 1 he didn't want to be here. After 2 failures he was desperate to stay relevant. He knew it was a **** job, but at least he'd stay in the spotlight. The only thing worse than people slagging you off is people NOT talking about you. As soon as he realised the financial situation he should have walked. He sat on his hands and took the coin. Unforgiveable
I bet his advisors aren't though and I can imagine 'conversations' will already be happening regarding how long they give him to turn things around.
