nah mate not 24/7 as oop ere in the grim north we sleep in beds <whistle>

yeah full time chair user since around when you were born .
All traditional pavements slope to drain water off so depending which direction you are going push one wheel and other wheel lightly grip pushing rim to cause some resistance and chair will go roughly straight .The state of pavements , slabs etc is a bit of a nightmare these days particularly as so many "active" chairs tend to have small front casters .Drop kerbs used to be a rarity so you just popped wheelies up and down kerbs .
Not being funny but being in a chair in itself aint that big a deal its some of the **** that often comes with it that is .

Most of the folk I worked with who had disabilities used to tell me that their disability wasn't the problem, it was society's attitudes and basic poor urban design that was. The DDA has made some inroads into that, but just some simple stuff still seems to pervade. For example, when I was out with a wheelchair user, people used to ask ME what they wanted. Like being in a chair suddenly makes you deaf and dumb ffs.

So how strictly have you taken lockdowns?

I don't expect there is a single person in this land that has adhered to them 100%

I think a northern accent qualifies as a speech impediment anyway bro <whistle>

But yeah, crazy seeing the ignorance from some people towards disabilities. I don't think it's all meant deliberately, hence much of it is ignorance rather than discrimination. You then get the people who go the other way, and actually disempower people, doing stuff for them that they are entirely capable of doing themselves.

One of the things people used to say to me that they found most frustrating, was not being able to be spontaneous, because every trip out needed to be planned. Arranging a wheelchair adapted taxi, making sure they had the right wheel locks, making sure the cafe didn't have a step going into it, making sure the toilets were accessible etc

Turns a simple trip out into a total ballache.
