Anyone who has followed my opinions on this board (tumbleweed blows past) will see that I've been quite critical of Warburton all along, even when we've been "punching above our weight." Why? Because there are so many simple and subtle things across the pitch that he hasn't properly got us coached up and disciplined on. We are very undisciplined. Lack of real leadership on or off the pitch. Each player seems to have the freedom to do whatever they want, without a disciplined style of play. We are a bunch of individuals. Moving the ball around quicker? Warburton says "don't worry about it, lads." Release the ball quickly when you tackle or intercept? "Do what comes naturally, boys." Watch for attackers calling for the ball and release it quickly? "if you want to keep the ball and move it around a bit more, go for it son." Organised throw ins? "Doesn't matter if you lose possession on a throw in fellas, we'll get the ball back somehow." Be bold and take chances in the final third? "I'd rather not lose possession anywhere. We won't concede as our defence is inpenetrable." He clearly has his ideas about formation and use of players. He has his ideas about tactics. But he does not closely coach the small things into the team. And now we have discipline issues with players lashing out like Chair just did. You can see the difference between us and teams who are really organised and disciplined. The best teams are actually micromanaged, imo.
TBH I really don't know what is and isn't handball theses days........ It used to be so much easier when you had accidental and deliberate handball.....
In 2 words, the manager ! ****ing half head ain't got a clue, he's completely lost the plot with his team selections. But afterwards it will of course be other factors such as Luton's physicality or we were rusty because we didn't have a midweek game ! We'll never be real promotion contenders until he's gone, preferably for a foreign coach with ideas that aren't outdated. Warburton is just McClaren in a mask
He pulled out so it was a touch at most. But seen red given for that. I'd take him off and out Willock on if he's fit enough. Get Albert on too, Wallace off with Moses left side. Warburton has filled the midfield, now we're a goal down he needs to take one off soon and get a more attacking player
Warburton has completely folded under the pressure of being in the mix. Experimenting with line ups etc and looking completely out of ideas. Hendrick and Johansen have been terrible and there's no way they should both start. Chair is over rated and has been crap again. I don't think he made contact when he stupidly raised his hand. Quite what Amos and Thomas have done to not get a look in when we have so little pace is beyond me. Not starting Willock is unbelievable from Warburton, after of course, already wrecking Willock's confidence. So, 2nd half and no changes. ****ing awful.
What is it when you keep doing the same thing and get the same result? Answers on a postcard please...
Personally, I’d like to see Thomas given a chance. He seems to have a decent engine and is a trier. I’d put him on and tell him to run, run and run again. That would show the rest of the twats.
