Good morning. So always a well rounded and sensible discussion on here religion. So not too start a big argument I'm more interested in have you ever read the Bible cover to cover or the Quran or any other text? Recently purchased, because I like the look of it and thought that I should read it all seeing as it's quite a famous book.
I tried reading some of a bible while in a police cell once but got bored after a few pages so read the code of conduct instead.
Read the Bhagavad Gita years ago. It’s written in verses, so the whole thing reads as one massive poem. It’s actually really accessible and quite enjoyable to read. I think it’s one text of a bigger Hindu book though. I’m not sure what that’s called. Have read some of the bible, but it’s a ****ing drag to read. The parables are quite interesting though. But the bible has been re written so many times, I’m not sure how much of it is authentic to the original Hebrew texts.
I did try reading genesis once but it's well over hyped. Tbh I don't get the language. Like reading that **** poetry that doesn't rhyme Art thou but ****ing doth thus with. Need a new version with slang. For example... Jesus chatted a load of **** about being the big man's son and peeps wernt avin it.
I read this years ago but never forgot it. Its More spiritual than religious. Bit nostradamus about it too, some bold predictions, some of which have come to pass already.
I recommend the Psalms, some cracking stuff in there Also Ecclesiastes, you’ll recognise lots of it as quotes from it have found their way into popular culture (including songs. “To everything there is a season”, etc - Mamas and the Papas). Also Revelations. Revelations is a cracking read. You know Hunter S Thompson turned to it every time he had writer’s block and a deadline to meet, right? King James is easily the best translation btw, **** the Good News Bible, dreary American **** that is.
