does anyone know of the exact reason why we didnt get cat 1? i saw that we were turned down a few months ago. since then it seems TS has lost all interest
I don't know why we didn't get Cat 1 status, but I wonder - are there any League One Clubs with Cat 1 status academies? If not, then there might be some kind of unwritten rule saying only the top 2 tier Clubs can have one. Possibly (ironically) because of fears that a lower league Club with few resources would make some kind of improper use of its Cat 1 academy, to somehow skew the Club's financial profile - as in be less vulnerable to being ripped off. That's just a guess, haven't got a clue if there's anything to it. But it feels like CAFC is considered not worthy somehow to have a Cat 1 academy, simply because we ain't in the Championship.
it looks like we didnt get cat 1 (guaranteeing certain transfer fees, development fees for kids) and then TS has lost interest. like his whole plan to break even was based on cat 1 being given so he could sell kids.
It was because we didn't have enough staff in the medical and sports science departments. Anthony Hayes explained it at the Supporters Club last night. There is also a belief that Premiership clubs don't want L1 clubs with cat1 status, because it would be harder to hoover up the best youngsters, so we won't apply again until we get promotion.
so he's cut back to try and break even and basically eliminated the club from cat 1 approval... the only thing that'd make him break even. this is why he needs a director of football. Or just someone around the place who could give him sound advice
Considering that whatever the result we seem to get outplayed in midfield ev ry week, it's disappointing that Aaron Henry gets further and further away from getting a 1st team start. He was singled out at 16 as one to watch, and given a first-team debut, and there's no doubting his technical ability. He's also better at free kicks than anyone we have. Disappointing, and I don't know why, but it looks like we'll lose him in the summer.
I know it's a cliché, but there's a lot goes on behind the scenes that we never find out about. With the academy as with every other aspect of the Club, fans are left to try to make sense of a puzzle picture when we're missing 90% of the pieces - and that's on a good day. If Aaron Henry's future is not at CAFC, it won't be simply down to crass incompetence. Sadly though, that option is the default one with many fans when scant available information doesn't flatly contradict.
Watched the U-18's this morning beat Hull 5-2, thanks to 4 goals from Casey, who was subbed after an hour. 4 shots at goal, 4 goals, defo one to watch.
