mag 'mate' and family gone on holiday... all wearing the scum tops on the 'plane and not a smile from any apart from those stupid apps that distort the faces in pics...these people are in their 50's and older ffs. EDIT: have i just turned into 'that old fart' that i swore i never would or are these social media type pictures really that sad?
I always remember the first holiday I had with my now missus and the step kids. The kids started hanging with the kids next door who's dad just happened to be a mag. We were asked if we wanted to meet up one night for a drink and after reluctantly agreeing on my part, I was given my instructions to be on my best behaviour - no football talk basically. So on the night, we meet up and for about 10 mins it was kinda ok until the mag brought up football. Basically asking if I went, what I thought about the team and how the new season would go, funny enough he didn't go to matches! Then he gave the missus the reason why mags are so hated, I can remember the words so clearly "yeah, we see all your lot wearing their football tops and I think to myself, where's your airport?". I looked at the wife and was given the go ahead to be myself where mags are concerned. Funny enough, we weren't asked to meet up again!
That's superb! I had a similar experience myself once, in Durham as it happens. Like you I needed permission, but I didn't waste it. If I say so myself I rose to the occasion rather well that night, and went on uninterrupted for a good couple of minutes!
I never talk to Mags about football, it's pointless. Despite winning nothing worthwhile in the last 70 years they only ever respond with a tirade of ridiculous boasts ... ... they've most recently been relegated twice, knocked out of cups by lower league clubs and had endless relegation battles. To hear the average Mag, they're Barcelona.
What's worse is that we have skull ****ed them so many times on the pitch recently the only things they can say to us is offensive and abusive **** about our city and people. Nothing to do with football just provocative insults that a child would resort to when losing an argument.
Ridiculous when there are loads of us in Durham, Newcastle, Northumberland, etc. Sunderland is only a place where my team plays but I think it's a decent town.
We were there on the weekend. We had to take some of my son's stuff up to him (he's at Uni there), so had a trip out to the beach. Shame the amusments have gone, I used to like those, but we still had a nice walk up the beach with the dog, and a decent breakfast at Valeries Tearoom. We avoided town on Saturday due to the fans being out en masse, but had a few nice beers out at the Cumberland Arms in Ouseburn, where I used to go as a student myself 40 years back. I do like Newcastle as a place, and the people generally, it's just a shame about the football club and its fans.
Gotta be fake news, Eddie Hearn said hes seen so much change & the mags dialogue with them is a big driver in the change Or maybe their just kernts willing to turn a blind eye for the sake of money.....sportswashed At least that awful bloke who did zero hour contracts is out their clerb & they have it back
TBF they're entitled to kill teenagers who have a strop about the regime ... ... I often felt like that with mine TBH but Social Services had other ideas
