I have always maintained we are far too nice. We need players with a nasty streak who are not prepared to be bullied.

I know, but I feel you’re quoting rules as though they are the only issue when interpretation and application of them are also relevant

I actually think the refereeing has been better since the restart (and VAR worse). Maybe the lack of fans helps them

One of my pet hates about how the PL has chosen to use VAR.

VAR cannot review yellow cards. It isn't one of the four categories. (Whether or not that should be the case, is a separate issue to what I'm focusing on here.) However, I have seen non-PL instances where the on-field referee has reviewed the VAR monitor for a red card incident (where of course is one of the four categories), and come to the conclusion that whilst it is not a red (which may or may not lead to their original decision being overturned, depending on what they gave), it is a yellow. And thus duly produced a yellow.

That makes perfect sense to me. If the referee is reviewing the incident and thinks "oh, I really should have given a yellow card there", then it's utterly perverse that we currently operate a system where they ignore what they've just seen and don't issue a yellow.

My last word on Oriol's tackle is a picture. It speaks a thousand words, and yet I hear no noise.
