No problem with the red. Thought it would be lucky to get a yellow but harsh to get a red (an orange card?). So be it. A minor gripe though......Sterling went over the ball and studs up on Raphinha earlier on in the game. Was, in effect, a stamp. Not looked at. VAR should have looked at Coopers shirt pulling....not looked at. I'm not against VAR but the way it is used is a disgrace. It seems completely random when and where they look at things. We all just want some consistency. Could be a long second half!
****ing joke of a decision. Got the ball first, ffs football is ruined by VAR and not being able to tackle. Typical top 6 decision. Just because they are losing, ref decides to even it up.
So Baldocks tackle on Roberts last week didnt even get a card and yet Mariner sends Cooper off who actually cleared the ball with full contact on the ball, but follow through deemed illegal? Where is the consistency in anything in this league
I’m all for player safety but what’s the game coming to, when you get sent off for winning a tackle. I get the whole ‘off your feet out of control bit’ It wasn’t studs showing. Sterling can be late and stamp on Raphinha’s ankle and that’s ok because it was low. Just ban tackling, ban heading because of dementia and ban volleying because you might catch someone with the follow through. Make it officially a non-contact sport. Neutered bollox.
You cannot go in at knee height studs showing and be surprised you get sent off. It was an awful tackle.
Surprised he took Bamford off instead of Roberts, we’re going to need the ball to stick up there on the odd occasion we get up there and I think Paddy is better at that. Yellow at best for me. He got all of the ball, you can’t change momentum after playing the ball so caught him on the follow through. I’ve been consistent, regardless of when it goes for or against us, I hate VAR, never wanted it brought in, it’s ruining football and I’d scrap it now.
Right lads I'm signing off for the second half and also because I might say something I may regret....
Bamford chases a player down and puts pressure on, Roberts is probably a bit more solid when it comes to actually putting a tackle in.
I thought that too. Wondering if Bamford isn't fully fit still & was never going to finish the match. Apart from that possibility, I don't get it.
