He has not returned to the imperious form that he produced in the first half of last season yet anyway, I would be more than comfortable with Maya starting and Jack on the bench personally.
Footballers always want to play. Can't see him not wanting to strut his stuff against the Champions in Waiting.
For sure we can rest a few of our defenders. City offer bugger all going forward. I'd be starting Bednarek and Gardos myself.
I thought Southampton were good against Everton and the one thing they are is good at the back, and on Sunday they scored goals. But Man City are just relentless and even on Sunday they just kept going and going and going and in the end they just nicked the win. So I am going to go 3-0. (Paul Merson). Not that good at the back then.
Sadly being good in defence doesn't protect you against players with the class to score from distance...look at Everton's only goal. Forster was doing the right thing coming out (something people have begged him to do), but that left him open to a great goal over the top. P.s. JWP.....you should be looking to do that!
Except when their head is somewhere else, personally we need to let go and plan on using the players that are here willingly until at least the end of the season. I was going to say "staying for the long term" but I do not believe that exists anymore in the modern game, with a few exception.
As our resident forum optimist I feel duty-bound to tell you that I have money on us winning. Draw, no bet, we're 15/1 (i.e. if it's a draw I get my stake back). I've gone big with a massive £2 scaring the bookies away. I suspect I may lose but 15/1 for that is potty. We're SOUTHAMPTON! Vin
You'll all be happy to know that I borrowed the old time machine again and travelled back to the future to Wednesday. It will amaze many that after 85 minutes we were winning 3-0. I'm not going to say who scored because that would ruin everyone's night!. (I'm sorry I couldn't stay until the end but parking the DeLorean is a bit dodgy in Manchester)
This, unfortunately. I was all for making a stand and not selling but I don’t think it’s worked out for us. We needed to stand up for the sake of the future, which is great. But Virgil wants out and that’s obvious. I would let him play for the u23’s and remind him he’s still contracted.
Yeah I didn't see the game yesterday but have seen a few comments about Virgil. What's the deal with that?
