When these two sides met at the end of November both teams were having contrasting seasons: Southampton were riding high and playing with a swagger while Manchester United were languishing in mid-table with Solskjaer in trouble. That day a last gasp winner from Cavani disappointed Saints fans. Expectations have dropped for Southampton since then with a tough injury filled period while Manchester United are vying for the title. Nevertheless there are signs of a reversal once again with Saints back to their old style and Man United under pressure after two poor performances. Could the pendulum of fortune shift once more? Team's news: Walker-Peters, Vestergaard and Salisu definitely out. Referee: Mike Dean. Assistants: Ian Hussin, Darren Cann. Fourth official: Lee Mason. VAR: Graham Scott. Assistant VAR: Stephen Child(Thanks OspreySaint) Ps. No bullying or aggressive behaviour to one another (I don't want another Aston Villa thread!).
A small point about United languishing and OGS being in trouble back then... they’d won 7 or 8 away league games in a row and gone on a decent run. Don’t believe all the media headlines.
Or perhaps I just wanted to give it an angle . Plus Man U fans expect too much with the squad they have!
Our main issue, despite only having a handful of senior players fit to play, and an incompetent idiot refereeing, and the fact that we currently struggle to achieve a ball-in-the-net situation resulting in the score being incremented, and the fact that Man United have a squad worth a gazillion bars of latinum, will be that we never win on Tuesdays any more.
This game will be a challenge, but it’s football and you never know. Alex Valerie. Bedders. Jack. Bertie JWP. Weird AL Stuey. Redders Ings. Adams Assuming Diallo, Oriel, Theo, KWP, Vesty, etc are not fit.
According to PL fantasy football, Big Vester is due back for this one. It would be a huge boost if he is.
I'm hoping that we come out feisty and angry at the injustices. I'm also hoping that Mike Dean feels a bit bad about it too, so is 'generous' (even though no referee has ever, ever been subject to subconscious bias). Though as we know, it's the hope that does that thingy....
