To which you need to add "fannying about OFF the ball". A large number of the goals we concede come from failure to close down attackers in the zone just outside the penalty area. Midfielders are the chief culprits; often Zimbo and Godfrey have to resort to desperate lunges forward past our inert midfield "cover" to try to block the impending shot or destructive pass. Replay Man U's first goal for a case in point. You don't close down or put pressure on an attacker by standing off him.

If it's any consolation, Villa were beaten 6-1 at home by ManCity. Their goal was a penalty in injury time. Bournemouth lost 3-0 at home against Watford.

Just like to give a shout to any city fans who were at Man utd.I listened on the radio and all you could hear were the Norwich fans, right up to the final whistle. Well done for your fantastic support. If total, genuine support won points,we would be in the top three

Yes, I would have chosen a draw by preference. Bournemouth are on a terrible run though and we play them next. This has to be a must win for anyone holding out hope of survival.

On a positive note I'm hoping Duda will make a difference for us as he's the kind of player we've been missing, a natural number 10 who scores goals, makes assists and is competitive on both side of the ball. His attitude also seems good:

"There was some interest from other clubs but I think I'm still young and I don't want to choose the easy way and to go to a bigger club or where the league is not so good," said Duda, speaking to the Canaries' official site. "I still like challenges and I'm happy to be here."

Hopefully he can make a difference.

If you read it closely, all of this was last season.
He's done bugger all so far this term.
If he had, maybe they wouldn't be so keen to loan him out. :emoticon-0112-wonde

As in the case with Amadou, that is because he doesn't fit with the new manager, Jürgen Klinsman in this case. This may or may not work to our benefit, but the self funding model means we need to look for situations like this. It's always chancy to watch compilations, but the CAM position has been a weakness this season with Stiepermann not producing as much in the PL and McLean playing out of position there. It's a position that should produce goals and assists and it hasn't been doing so. Duda is said to be good defensively as well. DF know his play and thinks he'll be a good fit. Time will tell.

A one-word reason for that: Klinsmann.

[Edit] Apologies Rick, I hadn't seen your post when I pressed Reply!

I really hope Amadou will be given a proper run now, in his specialist position at DM. Also Leitner, the targeting of whom in the early games showed just how much respect opposition managers have for him. I feel sorry for both of them, especially as side-lining them has hardly been vindicated by results.

No apology necessary, Robbie. I also hope that Amadou gets a run of games at DM to show what he can do. I had hoped that he would strengthen us defensively while also using his passing skills when we have the ball. Our passing was poor at ManUtd and I hope he now gets his chance to show what he can do against Bournemouth.
