‘You should ****ing thank us’ . I admit most clubs in your position would have taken the ground, but to ask us to thank your public fund assisted club is another level. Now enjoy actually supporting a decent side while we wallow in our own filth and misery.
Yeah the ticket prices are shocking and I appreciate they add to fan expectation. I just don’t think things should be as simple as “Lose games, let’s riot” or in our case “Lose games, let’s groan at a backpass or rent our season tickets to away fans”
you should, otherwise you'd get absolutely nothing for the tax money you spent instead of a fixed rental sum and decent share of the concession stands. We saved the taxpayers money being totally wasted by Seb Coe's arrogance.
I'm actually astounded not by the result, but by the discovery that losing 3-0 to a better side still has power to hurt, despite the absolute inevitability of that result. So, bollocks to Saints, bollocks to football, bollocks to West Ham, bring on some cricket if the sun ever shines again. Oh, and bring on the Euros too, and the inevitable heartbreak that will involve.
Not devastated per se. I kind of feel like an annoyed parent ‘I’m not mad, just disappointed’ etc... Weak weak weak team Saints have become. Back to the drawing board in summer.
Your club lost it's soul when the Dildo Brothers became your owners, but that's not your fault, and it's not unique to you to have crooked owners and to play in a soulless bowl. We're not really in a position to throw stones.
Might be time to bung them the tenner now that we've scraped to safety: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/get-involved/donate/ Vin
As I said weeks ago, I cannot wait to get the season over and am glad that it has finished. There were a few promising signs towards the end yet today ended totally predictably. The Leeds and West Ham games have summed up much of our season and because the performances seem to repeat each other, it has become boring. There has been a lot of sensible discussions about Ralph on Radio Solent this evening. I am not convinced that getting rid of him is the right answer and, judging by the fact that many fans are thinking about having him replaced by Eddie Howe, think that he would be too similar. However, I do not think that Ralph's performances and results have been good enough in 2021. Before Christmas I felt that the club was only short of a handful of players to made Southampton a major force. If anything, this season has revealed how serious the lack of depth in the squad is and perhaps a lack of understanding and appreciation of the ability of the players that are available for back up. I would agree with the points made on the radio that Ralph needs more coaching staff to help him and the cash made available to overhaul the team. Time some players were moved on, I think.
You sure it was nothing to do with Slippery Coe. Lance Forman says different in his book i seem to remember
They get a lot of hate from our supporters, but I give them credit for being the first owners in my time that haven't rolled over to get their tummy tickled whenever someone waved a cheque for our best players in front of their faces. Upton Park will always be the cross they'll have to bear, but expanding UP wasn't feasible due to the road behind. And yeah, all the football owners are dodgy, the porn barons possibly have a higher moral ground than most of the others in the prem.
oh, I totally blame the twat and used to refer to it as the Seb Coe White Elephant stadium. It was obvious to everyone that it needed to be designed with the future use of football in mind, but the twat was too far up his own arse.
For a season some people are writing off in its entirety as the worst ever I do recall a few happy moments: Then again, I live life as an optimist and, you know what, it generally works out. It helps you to remember the good times. If you expect life to be **** I think it's hard to see the good stuff. Except for VAR: That can **** off. Then, once it's ****ed off it can **** off further. Then, I'd like it to come back close again so it can **** off again. I'll not be going to live football again, I suspect. Adieu. Vin
I don't need proof. I just want you to feel the warm glow of giving a tenner to a charity that really squeezes as much as it can from every quid you give them. And it's a charity whose help even the most fortunate of us might need one day. In fact, I'd have enjoyed giving them the £500 if I'd lost. Genuinely, no need for proof. Vin
Actually, i could point out that the 'worst ever' top flight season in the last 43 years was 2004/5. We ended up in the bottom 3 that year. Every other season in that timeline, we've been better than at least 3 teams over the course of a season. But why let facts get in the way of a good old rant
I appreciate that I'm an anonymous Internet stranger but you have my word I'll stick that money in. A bet is a bet, and I made it willingly. Besides, it's a good cause
