Speaking of VAR. Anyone else think it was even worse this season than last? We've been involved in loads of absolute howlers this season, both for and against us. Might do a thread on worst VAR decisions of the season actually.
I think we have become numb to them. The last five months have been rinse and repeat. A chance today for the team to finish with a flourish and say well twelve not to bad. But we put another inept performance in
Yeah it's not even close to our worst season tbh. It feels really **** right now because all our terrible form and results have come in one long slog of the last 5 months. I also think that the world being in a **** place over that time makes it feel even worse. It has felt like relentless gloom. If (when) Saints are **** in normal times, at least the real world can be a distraction, but the real world has been even ****ter for most of us. Anyway, don't want to dwell on it now this season is finally over. Hopefully life will continue to brighten up (would be nice if the weather sorts itself out too). Hopefully we can all enjoy a break from Saints, enjoy the summer, the Euros and most importantly being able to do things, live life and do it with our friends and family once again.
I've always been a keen student of apparent patterns in the randomness of life. So I just put our results into an Excel spreadsheet and came up with the following. The yellow line is our actual points tally by match number. The blue line is the first output from a randomised game order. If we'd had the blue line season, I doubt people would be classing the season as the worst ever. It'd have been a workmanlike season for a lower-mid table Premier League team. I think that wonderful start was a curse. And the poor second half of the season may just have been a statistical anomaly, a result of our game order, rather than the calamity it's been painted as. Vin
Thank you, I’ve told my son (6) that it’s his job to go and watch football with me because grandad isn’t around. He’s not really into football…. maybe he’s coming to the right place
Thanks, it’s a combination of events that have made this season the worst. I’m just not as interested in it any more.
Thank you, it was back in March so things are getting easier. The sad thing is I’m just not as interested in the football now he’s gone. No transfer chat or mutual excitement about the new season. No continuously explaining how to pronounce players names and him still getting them wrong!
I had the same with my dad and F1 - I used to phone him after every race, and once that was gone it really dipped. It does come back though (suspect it would help if we were enjoyable to watch though!) If it was only in March, it's still incredibly hard mate. The smiles and laughs will return though, and though it'll never truly leave, it gets softer and you learn to live with it.
Thanks, I’d love it if my son got into football but don’t think it will happen. Every time there’s some news I still think “ooh I’ll message dad and let him know we got hammered” etc
