I think he's talking about that **** sport in which overweight men with no skill throw an egg backwards until they can push forward with nothing but brute strength, I think it's called "Rugby"
Pointless thread Strove and tigers1970. It was a pre season warm up friendly. How many do we pull for fixtures like this? In these times of hardship for many in Hull, I think pulling in 10k for what is ultimately a meaningless fixture is doing pretty well. Football is the national game both codes of rugby are not and thus punch well above their weight. I couldn't give a flying **** about Hull FC, but if they do well they'll probably pull 14-16k for the bigger matches. I would argue that isn't bad. So each to their own perhaps? To be honest, challenging for promotion, one might argue we should be pulling better crowds.
What you say is correct, however it ignores the hugely disproportionate media coverage in the CITY given to what is of minority interest. Every single derby without fail we're told it's heading towards a 'bumper sell-out for the biggest game in the entire world' yet every single time they attract a lower crowd than City have had that season. Wasn't it 2 or 3 seasons ago that the derby attracted a crowd of something like just 50 more than City's lowest attendance all season? Obviously this never got mentioned anywhere in the media however whenever we get a crowd of around 15k it is 'worrying'.
Under 15k should be worrying, it's the finances that you look at. I'm pretty sure that the money we are paying Brady & Meyler a week will cover quite a few more of FC's players, proportionate to the sport.
second derby of the season anyway, so not so bad i suppose. how many turned up when rovers played Gateshead the other week?
It always makes me smile when some RL 'celebrity' says "In Hull, you're either black and white or red and white" like we're living in some kind of fanatical rugby-crazy hotbed. Can you imagine a similarly **** attendance in Milan, Glasgow or Liverpool for a pre-season friendly?
