This 100% Hatem would pick the ball up and run at teams and you expected something to happen. I don’t expect anything to happen with Maxi, but love it the odd time it does.
If Maxi was an incredible player, he would be playing at Newcastle. We would find a way. He's just not all that
I'm sick of the amount of people fooled by Allan Saint Maximan and Ben Arfa like luxury players. They're not good players, their higlights make them look awesome but they're ****e and liabilities.
Put a competent left back behind ASM and he (and we) will fly. He is our most dangerous asset when on it and I trust Howe to get a more consistent game out of him.
ASM is king, top 3 players we have with Isak and Bruno. Injuries I'll give you but he is our most creative player by far. Him and Isak will tear up next season @ SJP. First five games this year 4 goal contributions and could have had a couple more if some others could finish.... (3 technically as you don't get an assist for winning a freekick). Got injured and lost his place which is fair enough but all hands to the pump next year and he is the LAST winger we should be considering selling, Murphy, Almiron, Gordon, ASM in that order.
Nonsense! HBA was a fat, wage stealing crook who played when he fancied it. You can tell Maxi cares and tries every game. You can moan about his defensive out put - because that's an area he lacks but you don't have Lionel Messi trying to cover for his LB, that's not their game and if he's in the squad he's there for pretty much anything but defending. Started 11 game this year - again I'll give you injuries complaint, although that happens to players - 6 goal contributions not including freekicks/penalties won. Add to that the 4 glaring opportunities he created in that video above alone, that players like Miggy, Willock and Murphy squandered when it was harder to miss, add all of that together and he'd be averaging more than a goal contribution per start. Give him a season like last year when he managed 31 starts, in a decent team with decent players around him and he'll show why he's so good.
They worked together, in tandem, to cover his deficiencies. ASM does not work where they are strong (although Willock was decent on the left). ASM offers much more attacking threat and could be a valuable asset. We need to play to his strengths. Getting rid of that dustbin would help
Hmmm…. Jacob Murphy, the back up back up back up winger, had the same goal contributions despite only playing 300 minutes more football than the world class winger ASM
