Yep injuries defo didn't help. Again just physiology for him. Not his fault he was born with fast twitch fibres and a bit frail. Both a curse and blessing them hamstrings. His goalscoring was always good to be fair up to Man U. He also had a plan for after football which saw him take his eye off the ball for the last 5 years. His horse operation (which perhaps some people don't realise just how big it is) took over. Again most knew this so its not like ourselves Man U or Stoke can whine on, all knew his intentions. If you still agree to pay him mountains of cash, its no good whining when you get a half committed footballer. You'd think he'd held a gun to these chairman's head the way people are going on.
Some great replies on Twitter where he asks people to read the book first and then judge him: My personal favourite:
the bloke had talent when young . but not really a nufc type person. best belong where he is in horse racing , with all the rest of the crooks
No one even remembers him anymoreamd no one gives a **** he's releasing a book, that's why he's got to so desperately create publicity for it by coming out with "controversial" public statements. .. Newcastle ruined my career, and David Beckham let his country down in 1998 ... thank you for raising your little head to be a whiney **** Michael, but I still ain't buying your book.
Sorry for the use of hyperbole, but I was alluding to the fact that, from the age of 24 his career had fizzled out into forgettable injury-prone nothingness. 6 years after he's retired he releases a book attempting to remind of a bleh career. Are we going to get a brand new Lee Sharpe book next. A similar career that no one wants to know about.
Same as Lee Sharpe then! Only Lee Sharpe won 3 league titles as a regular starter for Man Utd, whereas Michael Owen had to rely on a handful of bench appearances at Man U to steal a medal for a title he had nothing to do with.
Sharpe's career was over by the time he was 25, Owen's career was over by the time he was 24; Sharpe started appearing in trash TV after his career was over, Owen became the pundit no one wanted to listen to. No one cares about a book from either.
Yes the passion and emotion just dripped off my post didn't it? I don't know how you gauge "care", but by your logic, if no one cares then there wouldn't be single post on here. I care enough to say he's a ****, and that's about it.
