People change, and I believe there's no way the Spiders would've kept playing with Bowie for much longer after they split anyways. Can you imagine them being involved in any of the albums from Young Americans onwards? And ignoring the music, the way Bowie was spiralling out of control with drugs might've ended everything regardless too. I can possibly see Ronson trying it, but not the others.

And it's not like he didn't have awesome musicians to work with after the Spiders. Carlos Alomar, Robert Fripp, Brian Eno, Nile Rogers, Tony Visconti, Iggy Pop? Even some of his stuff in the 90s with Trent Reznor was alright.

The LIKE for your post Peter is purely for Mick R's presence on the performance. Sadly, the reinvention of Dylan's voice & general presentation was a failure in my mind. Doesn't always work. I'm sure many a punter felt cheated by his (Dylan) metamorphosis. Hey, his choice !

Music is an imperfect thing. You like what you like and it's often of your generation. We care so much about music and people like what they like.

I only have a problem when someone tells me Ronan Keating is a great songwriter, or Boyzone were a good band. It's right there where I'll switch off and stop reading.

Some music is seriously **** and I don't care what your taste is. Some things are **** and I will discard your opinion.

I'm going to cut what could have been a long rant short and just say 'If you don't like the Beatles, musically, you are pretty much ****ed <laugh>

Thank goodness for the freedom of choice & the variety that exists. "One man's meat is another man's poison."

Anything up to Pat Garrett ('73) myself . Vive la difference - in the generic sense ?

Planet Waves 1974 and Blood on the Tracks 1975 are testimony to that.
Although you had to be around to hear Dylan for the first time in the late 60's to realise what a talent he was (is).

Apologies 2*Wrights - I was intending to respond to balkan tiger (post # 69) and yourself - your "nuts" post , I think, had the same general meaning as mine.

Totally agree with your assessment of his early work. Just thought his stage presence fell apart after '72 (and his voice). Mind, "Blood on the Tracks" worked, so I'll extend to '75 :emoticon-0100-smile:emoticon-0148-yes:
