I said we'd draw a decent championship team Not a stellar team, but therefore a potentially winnable game - they'll be concentrating on the league as well - but certainly a tough game.
emminently winnable. we won at derby when they were top, currently it is 4th place in L2 playing away to 4th place in the championships. midd have won 3 of their last 7 games. league p20 w9 d8 L3 f24 a17 gd7 points 35 pos.4 come on you shrews, lets get amongst them.
gawd they are a load of deadbeats up there. very few contributors, but i may have warmed their boards up a bit!
its as dead as a do do on their boards, so we shall will the shrews on to the 4th round and beyond hopefully
This does not look a great draw - Midddlesborough are two leagues above us so they must be hot favourites for this one. We are in good form away at present so lets hope we give a good account of ourselves. We played well at Southampton last year and they are above Middlesborough now. I presume they have crowds approaching 20,000 up there so it might be a fair bit of money as consolation if we do go out.
Anyone gonna go? I might do, my sister's boyfriend is from Boro, and she lives in Leeds so I may take a train down and stop overnight at hers. I just hope I won't be disappointed by an abject performance and a crushing defeat!
It won't get televised, they don't have huge crowds, it is a long way for town fans to go and it is on the weekend of the 7th of January which will mean an away trip to Swindon is re-scheduled - at least it is not a home game beig moved to a tuesday night. All in all though possibly a tough test against a good club but won't bring too much money our way. Well done to Brizzle on beating Totton and gaining a home tie against Villa, not as good as Man City v UTD or Brum v Wolves. Can't see a huge crowd making it to Brighton from Wrecsam either.
town v wrexham in the 4th round is a long shot at best, but then if bristol rovers can score 6 then anything can happen!!
As we are playing a bigish club we still won't gain a sizeable chunk of money unless we get a replay or get through to next round. A replay might bring the camera to our stadium.
i think we forget our carling cup wins too soon, was 4-1 away at derby a fluke, and also our home win 3-1 over swansea, was that a fluke. did i dream the club went to the emirates. let us have a little courage and cease referring to tinpot gas and wrexham. we will take the game to boro, and if it is a replay bring em on. do not countenance defeat, aim high, who are we, we are the shrews of shrewsbury town, so gird up your loins and think on. floreat salopia
yeah that was a massive fluke especially as the score was 3-2!!! i agree with you though jack, it will be a great game for the neutral also as both teams are capapble of breathtaking freeflowing football, tony mowbray is a great ambassador of "gung ho!' football and i admire him for that!
Wish this one was at home. Bit of a disappointing draw but a decent outside chance of getting a result. Hopefully, they might rest a few first teamers - Emnes especially.
i suggest if fit we unleash young collins up front and perhaps young bradshaw later, as they are used to performing in big stadia and in front of big crowds. still after derby and the arsenal this may be a bit of come down game. the north east is stuffed full of famous footballing clubs. can we make 50? to start the ball rolling- blyth spartans, ashington, bishops auckland, gateshead, darlington-and i have only scratched the surface
