Alright folks. After dropping Simon Mignolet for the biggest fixture of the year; Brendan Rodgers has come out with the following reasoning and duration of his spell outside of the team: Is this good management or poor management? Will he be motivated to do better by this public news, or be broken beyond repair? Where do we see Mignolet in this team and squad going forward? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30471299
Good management? We will only be able to judge if Jones is given a decent run to see how he performs Migs will just have to 'be professional' and work on his game.
Mignolet is ****e, always was. Look decent at Sunderland cause he was the only one who was actually doing anything in their defence at the time. Also he was out of the spotlight with Sunderland most of the time, it was only when he had a good game that people really paid attention to him. Apparently their is an open rumour that we are openly looking for a new Goalkeeper and that Mignolet as 1st choice is over. If we were to get a new GK in Jan, then Mignolet is either going to have accept the bench and FA cups games or be sold. It also slightly embarrassing that we've had to have Jones as backup all these years. Nothing against Jones but he just not very good and the fact he's still in the 1st team squad is an embarrassment.
Agree with all of that. Its embarrassing we might be replacing a player not long bought in to replace someone else. I would love to have Cech. If I could ask for 2 things from Father Christmas - it would be buy Cech and buy a quality striker.
I tend to agree, and I'm not sure where Rodgers is going with this. Jones is not good enough for first team, and he may be forced to bring back Migs pretty quickly. I hope he's got someone lined up, otherwise he could again end up looking pretty silly.
What happened to your interest in Valdes (ex of Barcelona)? We'll swap you Green (who's having a great season) and Austin, for Raheem back again!
You do realise he was Boro's keeper for a decade don't you? Including the season they went down btw.... He's ****e
The two probably had a disagreement and now he's been shown the Sakho-Borini way. Not that the latter two don't deserve to be on their way...
Actually mingolet ain't that good and hasn't got much more to give. He cannot improve the basics he is lacking so we are merely playing for time Lfc need leaders we've no keeper, centre half, midfield or striker and that's all down to Rodgers. He had more than enough to go buy those types of players And once more in shaking my head as Ericsson wins another for spurs for 12 mil while we wasted 20 on markovic, 25 on lallana and paid 10 mil for a seat warmer it seems in can Honest to god what can can do if Allen and Gerrard turn in that tosh and he still doesn't get a sniff?
Problem is that Rodgers wants his keeper to be a sweeper keeper, so god knows why he signed mig when distribution is the weakest part of his game. Whoever the next keeper is, he'll need to be a confident distributor tp succeed under Rodgers
It is bizarre isn't it? Especially when you factor we had one of the worlds best distributors of the ball in Reina. The decision to lose Reina and spend has backfired spectacularly. Reina has made 0 appearances in all competitions so far and is rotting on the bench for Munich. Terrible decision.
Sums up the transfers in Rodgers era. Need a quick striker to close defenders down (replacing Suarez)- Buy Balotelli who has no work rate. Buy Lambert who is 32. Need a Centre Back who is also a leader- Buy Lovren who needs to be told what to do. Buy Sakho and never play him. Need a tough tackling DM- Buy Can who is an all action midfielder who likes to break forward. Buy Allen who is nothing. Need a sweeper keeper (as mentioned)- Buy Mignolet who is about as commanding as a mouse. We keep missing what type of footballers the players we buy are.
Completely different situation. Erikson was coming in from abroad, Mignolet is now in his 5th English season. Erikson was proven abroad and needed time to adjust, Mignolet should be adjusted to English life now even if he is still adjusting to the club its his 2nd season and really should be used to playing for Liverpool and Frankly is **** in comparison to the standard of Erikson. Not to mention the complete mess Spurs were in last season. Erikson is playing well now, but he's still not taking the league by storm. What does that say about Mignolet.
Think we've seen the best Mignolet has to give tbh and we should be looking for a new No 1. Agree with what Rog said above
