Millwall v Swansea Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - The New Den Date - 14 March 2023 Kick off - 7:45pm Following yet another defeat, this time at the hands of automatic promotion chasing Middlesbrough - making it 3 wins in 21 Championship matches - next up for Russell Martin’s sinking Swans is an away match at Play-Off chasing Millwall. Last Saturday, Boro came from 1-0 down against the Swans to narrow the gap on the Championship's promotion leaders. Joel Piroe gave the home side a surprise lead, somewhat against the run of play in the first half of an entertaining contest. But Aaron Ramsey and Cameron Archer scored in the space of three minutes of the second half to turn the game on its head, just moments after the Swans had a goal narrowly ruled out. Top-scorer Chuba Akpom then netted from the penalty spot - following an act of ‘gross stupidity by Latibeaudiere - to seal a well-deserved win. Michael Carrick's side are now just four points behind second-placed Sheffield United who were beaten by Luton Town, whilst the Swans are languishing in 17th place - nearer to the drop zone than they would like. Whilst the Swans were losing to Boro, Andreas Voglsammer converted from the penalty spot to help move Millwall back into the play-off places with a narrow victory over mid-table Reading. The Lions were gifted the opportunity to take the lead after 11 minutes when Zian Flemming was brought down in the box by Royals goalkeeper Joe Lumley. Voglsammer made no mistake with his spot-kick and Reading failed to mount much of a response as they went in a goal down at the break. The Royals enjoyed plenty of second-half possession but could not find a way to test George Long as the visitors held on comfortably for the three points. The victory moved Millwall into sixth place, ahead of Norwich who lost at home to Sunderland on Sunday. The Swans have played the Lions on 55 previous occasions, winning 23, losing 19 and drawing 13. In the corresponding fixture last season, the Swans ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a smartly taken snap-shot by Piroe: Turning to Tuesday evening, I can see nothing other than a home win: 3-0 to Millwall. The Swans’ slump to continue …. Hope I’m wrong
Sorry I can't see anything than another defeat it's more a question of how we will play. I hope we go down fighting and playing with some spirit and control of the ball. 2-0 to the Dockers
Let's be positive... we're due a fortunate draw, 0 - 0. That's the first half sorted, second half 2 - 0!
My son asked me what is the formation? I replied: “Russ isn’t sure - he put all the players’ numbers into a hat, and this is what came out …. “
