https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/eisa-vow-after-city-move/ Now I know some won’t be happy, but here’s a quick look at him.
It's the time of year again where many, including myself, will question the incomings and outgoings and whether they add or subtract from what we had going for us last season. I suppose we should hold our thoughts until the dust has settled on the new campaign when we will have a better chance to see where we sit in terms of competitiveness and/or sustainability. The rebuilding for the new season is a fine art of mixing the past and the future and waiting to see how the new menu tastes and hopefully not waiting too long to change the mix, or indeed the chef. Bring it on.
With Marlon now firmly signed up we have something I think we needed, which is consistency in a position where it is of prime importance. Nice one in my books.
Pleased Marlon has signed , of the players nearing the end of their contracts personally the one I feel would be hardest to replace.
I’m interested to see how he fits into the squad . Does this mean Djuric is on his way ? , not a like for like replacement I realise , but there’s only so many strikers you can have in a squad , does it mean our interest in Marriott is finished ? Intersting times ahead , I hope it all works out for the best. Not long to go now till the season starts , I for one can’t wait .
Marriot was never coming here ………….. should MO hit 20 goals this season city could well go top 6 my reasoning on the league reflected in the final table prediction thread .. is it will be very tight. The main emphasis for City is to secure an average of 4 points OVERALL [H and A ] from any team who are in the bottom 10 AFTER GAME 3 ……. my predictor gives City 72 points maybe enough to get top 6!
Marriott was coming here, so I don’t know where you’ve got that statement from. City did not like Peterborough being open with it and never played into their hands regarding the price war. So we’ve gone and taken Peterborough’s number one target.
Originally he apparently wanted to go to Forest - besides which, I thought Derby were supposed to be tightening their belt? Peterborough chairman seems a bit of a lad (cough twat cough), and maybe pushed a touch hard to instigate a bidding war. You can understand him wanting to, but maybe his cock-sure attitude could backfire if Marriott ends up leaving for much less down the line and/or is unable to repeat last years' heroics.
Surely more of one for the future than to slot straight into the team , bit of a jump from league 2 to the championship.
I think LJ & co have read him right but we could be missing out on a diamond, I really do hope our balance is right and we improve on last year, I am not a LJ fanatic but he has got bigger balls than people give him credit for, let us hope he gets us up there.
Very shrewd business. Perhaps we could buy Marriott and loan Eisa back to Peterborough as part of the deal. Win-win!!
I liked the look of Marriott, but like others only saw clips of him scoring not his overal game play. I think we’ve decided 1.5 m for a player that came 2 divisions below us scoring goals in a struggling team, is a better gamble than a 6 m plus gamble on a player only one division below us. Both players have good potential to go on and be worth a lot whilst both could equally fail as do a lot of players stepping up divisions. I’m always sitting on the fence with LJ, could you imagine if 6m plus Marriott did not work? A lot of fans will be out with their pitchforks for LJ.
However you look at it 6m plus is a heck of a lot for a league 1 player , he may go on to be worth a lot more , but on the other hand he may not . Mo seems a much better option at £1.5 million , at least if he fails , as ROD said we are likely to still get a good chunk of it back when selling him. I know Marriott scored bundles last season in league one , but so did Matt Taylor for the Blue few previously, but luckily we only paid £300k for him , if he can stay fit this season could be massive for him , but that’s another story .
We will all remember what you said about Mo Eisa RR, lets hope he comes good, because you will be the first one on the attack.
Your mention of John Akinde (Tampa) set me off on a google trail. I remember his transfer to us from Ebbsfleet and looking at his number of clubs and statistics I think he is one of those players whose skills never became evident and he became a celebrity only in his own mind. So sad but there are many more like him out there who talk the talk but never walk the walk. He is now at Lincoln City and obviously still getting a pay cheque from football.
