Now that we are going to be back in the Championship next season. Who do you want to see as manager? I want Dyche in. He needs full control of signings too. We need some sort of stability. He can give it to us.
The Championship isn't exactly the place for managerial stability though. From memory, over the last decade the average stay for a manager there is just a little over 12 months - a lot less than in the Premiership. To be honest, I don't care who is appointed, as long as he (or even she) isn't a novice to the game in England, has a decent track record in management, can actually speak English and, most importantly, is given time to mould his team to his way of thinking without the owner's spies constantly judging everything he does. Maybe too tall an order?
...and who would want to come to us?? MInd you I guess there is a good chance of success... so could be attractive......
One thing that you can be sure of is that there very definitely will be a number of managers interested - there always seems to be no matter which club is looking for a replacement, even us. The problem for Gino is selecting the right one - so far, it could be argued that he has only managed that the once - and, although successful, even that ended acrimoniously after eight months. I guess that points to Gino himself, and/or his underlings, being part of the problem - properly valuing people in terms of ability and financial worth may well not be his forte, hand-in-hand with poor man management skills.
Yes...have to agree really.....I do worry that their financial plan is dependant on us being in the prem...so they will be hell bent again at gettinug us back up regardless..... whilst we still have the parachute payments
We are going to end up with an unknown again, aren´t we? I wonder how left field the Pozzos will delve!
I guess the well know a haven’t worked the last 2 times ! They seem keen on a younger British manager but we all know such a bloke will still be under the same sort of pressure for instant results and working with the usual restrictions and almost hawk eye attention over his shoulder .
That'll make Forest Green angry - only the other day they were saying no approach had been made to them to discuss the possibility, and that Edwards himself had made no mention to them of any approach either. Shades of Siva and Everton?
Two year deal agreed with Edwards apparently. Forest Green owner's quote to SSN - "Watford are on our naughty list" https://theathletic.com/news/watfor...ards-to-make-him-new-head-coach/lqiHlm631hC9/
Well that's all a bit embarrassing (again) if all this is true. I think though if Edwards is out of contract at the end of the season then we will have wanted to keep the negotiations under wraps. I am always concerned if a new manager comes in under apparently dubious circumstances.
And we complained when the snake slithered to Everton. I know, not entirely similar. But, doesn't seem right. Oh, well done Watford, another title making season in the media for all the wrong reasons.
Dale Vince refused to say if their head coach was under contract beyond this season and hasn't been afraid to hire and fire himself. Coaches are not that different to players, get a better offer than the existing one and they will be off. A new stadium for FGR is underway with a maximum capacity of 5,000, so the idea of managing a big/medium size club is not going to happen down there.
