For me - ASM------------BA--------Ben Arfa ---Wijnaldum---------Cabaye -----------------Tiote--------------- Enrique--Colo-----Mbemba--Debuchy ----------------Krul-------------------
HBA on most days was a lazy bastard who tried clever things, most of which didn't come off. ASM can seem like that at times but does score some goals. Wilson--------BA -------------Nolan---------- -----Tiote--------Cabaye--------Barton--------- Enrique---Colo---Mbemba-----Debuchy ----------------Krul------------------- That team would be more workmanlike
ASM and HBA's scoring rate is similar, and HBA did create chances. With HBA if you play him in a 4-3-3, he shines more, as evident in the 2011/12 season. As soon as we reverted back to 4-4-2 and he was expected to defend, he was less effective and gave away from possession. Similar to ASM. I think ASM is more creative though and tries harder. ASM is basically right footed ben arfa but with a better attitude and defensive work rate. But his defensive abilities are still poor though.
This probably - Jonas would be my first name on the sheet, his energy and power really dragged the whole team up a lot of the team. Cabaye would provide the creativity, ans Ba, Wilson and Nolan the goals. R Taylor was superb when he was fir and Tiote will always be a legend. **** Barton - always injured, and when he wasn't he was getting sent off. His career with us was just embarrassments, assaults and his stupid ****ing twitter account.
Patrick Kluivert was one of the best strikers we ever bought. Shame he stopped being good at least 2 years before he came here, and what we actually bought was a useless lazy fat heap of dogshit. In converse Jon Dahl Tomasson was one of Denmarks best ever strikers, but only after he left us.
What's the best team you could make from players that we had but not in their prime? Campbell, Jonson, Barnes, Pearce, Rush, would have to be considered as well as Kluivert and Tomasson. Controversially I'd possibly put Shearer in there too
Wow, an interesting question. Rush, Barnes and Pearce 100%, agree with your others too. Maybe Kevin Sheedy, Kevin Gallagher and Nicky Butt too. Not sure about a keeper. Agree about Shearer, he was the best player in the world at Blackburn, but never reached those heights with us.... however unlike the other players mentioned he was great for us, none of the others were (Pearce and Gallagher were decent though).
