So call it anything but a Newcastle airport then.

Btw, what's Ponteland got to do with it?

When Newcastle was chosen as the name of the airport it could very well been Ponteland
However as I’ve been told earlier no international travelers would of heard of ponteland and know where that was

I think this was the only airfield in Ponteland

Ponteland Landing Ground / RAF Ponteland / RFC Ponteland...

Nothing to do with Newcastle air port mate<ok>

How's that like? The terminal building was originally next to Woolsington Hall. Right near where the helipad is now, other side of the runway. The runway was a grassy strip originally. Right where the existing runway is now. Other than it being lengthened the runway hasn't moved.

There was a smaller landing strip near where the existing terminal building is now. I wonder if that was it?

A lot of foreigners will know where Newcastle and Sunderland are better than a lot of English people south of Birmingham. When I lived in Oxfordshire I many a time had to tell people they were not next to Blackpool or near Manchester etc etc

If you're trying to appear intelligent you should, at least, try to get the quote correct.

    'Me thinks' ffs <doh>

Well, I'm not quoting, I couldn't even tell you who said it...

I thought we were discussing the airport not my spelling and grammar:emoticon-0126-nerd:

While living in France, over the last 20 years, I'd mention I'd booked flights to visit home ...

... "Ah great, you're going to London."
