You make Pearson sound like a football dinosaur and I’m not sure he is. First and foremost he would give the fans a lift. Secondly as an ex central defender I’d like to think he could help us improve in defence and get the odd clean sheet, something ross failed miserably at. Then think of our strikers and in particular kimpioke(sp) and they could improve from working with Phillips. Sounds promising to me
Ross was an ex central defender. That worked well. Nothing at all to correlate that quality players make good coaches. Have you heard philipps speak? Wouldnt bode well . For me Pearson and skp would be second best option after stendel. Not a particularly inspiring one but after ross, Coleman, grayson, moyes we safc fans are becoming inured to having dross managers and being expected to be thankful for what we are given. We have a recruitment team filling the dressing room with crap, with pitifully few exceptions. They are now integral to the new manager search. Pardon me if I am not sounding other than forlorn with what donald is serving us up in his brave new world
Why? He has a good record at this level and yet all I see is negative comments.. Surely anyone who comes deserves to be given a chance?
People just see him as another uninspiring addition. At least Pearson and SKP would give the place a lift.
Even though this bloke has a good recent record at this level and Pearson and Phillips have not? Don't get me wrong.. If it was Pearson and Phillips they would also have my backing, but I just can't fathom the utter negativity I'm seeing towards Parkinson..
All managers mentioned had decent records at other clubs before coming to what is fast becoming the managers graveyard club..
He can and will get them a damn site fitter than they are though. That would lift performance probably 20%. I don't see him as the all shouting and bawling manager, maybe a bit unfair to pigeon hole him like that. As I said before I know he's big into his sport science and psych which could also play a big part too.
I reckon they can kiss goodbye to 30k crowds if Parkinson is appointed and we don't get off to a flier ...
My problem with him, and possibly the attraction for Donald, is that he's another Ross. As with the takeover I keep getting the feeling that Donald wants to retain control. He's having the time of his life at Sunderland and he'll never be at such a big club ever again. Pearson or SKP wouldn't allow him to interfere and I'm sure the Americans feel the same. The danger is that he holds the club back for his own personal benefit.
I agree with this....although it doesn't seem fair on a guy who hasn't even started yet to be castigated, but he would hardly be the 1st. Pardew and Kinnear at the Mags...even Grayson with us to name a few. I think its down to perception and what we see as the clubs ambition. To appoint a guy like Parkinson sends a clear message to the fans and underlines where we are as a club and possibly what is before us...unless of course he manages to do really well with the squad he has. But while he is trying to do that...yes the crowds will drop significantly...of course we will all be behind he efforts ...but it will be interesting to see who actually pays to watch it happen. For what its worth, I think Parkinson will get the job on the back of his promotion success full stop. Not what he can do after that may be achieved..sadly that's what Sunderland fans are looking at...Not a cheap short term fix
Even if he got off to a bad start? Anyone who comes in will need to hit the ground running. Unfortunately it's how it is now.
