Nick Anderton is about to undergo several months of chemotherapy as the cancer diagnosis has been found to be more aggressive than previously thought. Article in Bristol Live re Nick's Chemo, 6 cycles in 28 weeks, the first four being five weeks each and the last two four weeks each. a bit of good news from him is he will become a father for the second time in January a boy along side a Daughter Grace, sleepless nights but a posative mindset to help him fight on.
Bristol Rovers players and staff will be shaving their heads on the 16th of January in support of team-mate and promotion hero Nick Anderton as he battles a rare form of bone cancer. Club captain Paul Coutts said: "We’ve always been as one in support of Nick. In the blink of an eye, his world's been turned upside down and this is another way that we can help raise awareness of his condition and raise valuable funds for him and his young family at the same time. Some of us have less hair to lose than others and I’m sure Nick’s looking forward to seeing his mates and the gaffer without any!" The players will go bald on the 16th - Nick's shirt number - of this month at a Bristol hairdresser who supports rivals City and not Rovers, further proof that the footballing and city communities are coming together to offer their support. Nick has formally retired from professional football at the age of 26 as he continues his fight against cancer. He has really been through the mill with a full knee replacement and 12cm of his femur replaced, due to the tumours. I wish him and his family all the very best in his continuing fight against this dreadful disease and for whatever he does when he recovers. Nick Anderton has provided some wonderful news via X (formerly known as Twitter). After months of gruelling chemo he is currently cancer-free - there's no sign of active disease. This is fabulous news for Nick, his family and the wider Rovers community so very many congrats to Nick and let's hope he continues his recovery and moves on to the next chapter of his life.
