Well, here we go again, has this one got legs or not? Having done business in both Turkey and Egypt the negotiations, if this is true, are not going to be easy I can tell you.
Well, we've heard it all before but you never know. He appears to have quite a few fans... https://www.thecourierdaily.com/acun-ilicali-net-worth-age-wife/19576/
-> Bit nervous about this one, but at least he has a track record of involvement in a football club previously. I still think we're one of the best and most exciting opportunities for a potential buyer, and with the right owner coming in really could shoot up the table. The Championship really won't be a strong division this coming season. Without black & amber tinted glasses on, can someone explain why they think this is the case? When there's talk of this FFP advantage, does anyone (on here) really know what that potentially means for us? Off the top of my head ....... + Squad virtually clear of dead-wood Low salaries (conversely that has a flip side, meaning it's a sign that we don't have any real 'experienced quality' in the squad) Likely immediate good will toward a new owner IF they approach it right Some promising young players (however, we are far from unique in that, and the academy is 'only' 2nd level and the facilities are not our own assets) FFP advantage (IF that is really still an advantage and one that really does mean something) Still seen as being a recent-ish PL team Interesting 'brand' to market (Hull City AFC - The Tigers) - Decimated fan base Fickle fan base (there's a link to the 1st point) SMC complications (shared ground, cost, hassle, relations with FC, ....) Don't own our own ground Problematic track record with HCC Limited capacity (in PL terms) Competition of 2 x RL teams in the same smallish City Increased competition now in wider catchment area with TWS being PL and doing well
Assuming it was a fairly standard deal, with the fee spread across three seasons, it's likely that there's at least another £6-7m to come.
Yes. FFP grants clubs an 'allowable loss' over a period of three seasons, of which we have had none, meaning that a new owner could roll the dice over 1-2 seasons building a squad to tilt at promotion. I believe there are further offsets around the Academy and other things we've invested in that would put us in an even better position. With the losses and wage bills of current Championship clubs by comparison, that puts us in an incredibly healthy position. Even ignoring FFP, we are one of the only clubs in the Championship, let alone the EFL, with a healthy wage bill to revenue ratio. Believe Swiss Ramble or Price of Football produced analysis around this and the healthy position we have put ourselves in. Many will say that we have been asset stripped, but it's left us in a position that was incredibly tenable over COVID - granted, helped by transfer fees for Bowen and Maguire. We are a one club city meaning the catchment area for fans is massive, as well as the catchment area for youth players in the Academy. There's a lot of 'fresh air' in the city for City to market itself in, outside of the Rugby League clubs of course. I think there's a lot of opportunity for a new owner to harness the good will of supporters and ride a crest of optimism with the club over the next 2-3 years by which point the club could find itself in the PL with shrewd investment. At a possible fee of $15m up front that paints the picture of an incredibly appealing club for investors. Compare that to Derby for instance, who are a complete mess.
If only we had a decimated fan base. We would only have lost one in ten of our fans instead of more than one in two.
I can't see the Allams giving up the club for $15m and another 6 or 7 million quid later. Then there is the SMC which is16 million in debt, they will probably take the chance to offload it onto the council.
The council and Saint Adam have made plenty of noises about how the SMC should be run. If push came to shove would either of them grasp the opportunity to show everybody how it's done? I have my doubts.
AP did grasp the chance, he's the reason the SMC is run by the owners of Hull City, he obviously wouldn't take it now the Allams have loaded it with over £16m of debt.
That was £10.2m and was two years ago, I'd assume we'd have had most of that already, maybe a third of it to come this July.
They hadn't in September - “Surprisingly we do still have interest. We are in a different league, and the price is lower, and we still have lots of money to come from the sale of Jarrod Bowen (to West Ham in January). Compared to some other clubs we are in good shape“. Ehab Allam
