Unusual. Do we have a full programme now of all our pre-season games with fixture dates? I'm probably a bit out of the loop, but I was only aware of the Celtic kick-about behind closed doors, and, erm... ...and another one where all the tickets are sold already.
Yes, I find that a bit odd. Not the greatest pitch in the world, but a part of pre season for both clubs going back years. I assume someone blocked the date with another fixture, but you'd think this one might have been an automatic for preseason.
No chance. If you have been to a few welling v Charlton games, then you know it’s all good natured fun.
Correct sir. That was disputed by a club employee elsewhere early this morning but was corrected by a couple of other knowledgable individuals on CL.
Has there been a specific statement from the Club regarding why a place could not be found for the Welling Friendly? If there is a good reason I'd be willing to accept it. As somebody who doesn't attend friendlies, this issue doesn't resonate with me as much as it will with some fans. But I would like to see our traditions respected, and not discarded on a whim.
Just read somewhere that Welling Utd posted losses of 122,000 quid last year. Obviously Covid was a big factor there, but that is a big hit for a small club. proabbly would have welcomed Charlton with open arms had they opportunity arisen.
If TS is aware of Charlton's traditional friendly against Welling Utd, and the hit they have taken because of COVID19, I wonder if he could help them out. I know he isn't made of money, but some help for Welling would go down very well with many Charlton fans I think. Especially if we can't help them by generating some money playing the friendly.
I really think we should be playing a friendly against Welling. It is traditional and we have supporters, like me, who go and see them occasionally.
