A familiar face to local football, Jamie Waltham is now the owner of North Ferriby. This is being heralded as a good thing. I’ve only ever heard Ash bitch about him, he was the one who bought Hall Road’s ground, turfed them out and put his club, Hull United in. He then fell out with Ashbee and then the club dropped two divisions. The guy couldn’t run for the ****ing bus, let alone run a semi professional, semi successful football club. I worry for them.
He’s a boxing promoter as far as I know. I think OLM has mentioned him a few times, I only know him through other people, but what I’ve heard I’m not sure about. He makes noises about ambition and such, but it usually ends in disaster. One thing the Forsters have done is leave the club debt free. Let’s see if it is still like that when Jamie has gone.
Passed it on debt free didn't they? Good on em. Seems a decent kid Jamie, friend of a friend knows him.
He had a good go with Hull United even offering free life time passes which I thought was odd and although I wasn't 100% behind the Hull United thing because I saw it as threat to City, he did have a go and no-one can argue with that. At least he's got the bollocks to have a go at Ferriby. So on that I score I wish him well. They will probably be plenty of people who could have taken Ferriby on but prefer to bitch about the person who has.
His interview on humberside was interesting to say the least.....says he will explore possibility of relocating North Ferriby to Dunswell Park!!
He seems like the type of guy who wants publicity, hence the offering free life time passes. I would be dubious personally as this is a huge step up from the level Hull United played at.
Funnily enough they weren’t fighting off buyers. It’s a tough sell as they don’t own the ground and were operating on a really low budget. I imagine if he tried to move them, he would change the name and it would all go tits.
At least he has stepped up and is willing to give it a go when it seems no-one else is willing to risk a few quid on buying them.
It isn’t much of a risk, it’s a village team punching well above its weight. The budget reflects the income, which is made up almost entirely from gate receipts. The home attendance hasn’t changed at all in 10 years and it won’t for the foreseeable. Unless he’s going to bankroll it himself, which I doubt. If they were relegated, it would be a shame, but it would be to a level they’re probably suited to operating at.
Sorry, how wealthy do you think (shut up OLM) we are? If I had millions knocking about I'd probably have given it a go. The club doesn't need saving, it's debt free. It just needs to be maintained. There are bigger clubs than Ferriby in leagues below. Just ask Filey.
He's owned a few football clubs the last few years and none have done very well. He usually starts by mouthing off about wanting to climb the leagues, moving to a ground and getting fans in. It nearly always ends up with relegation and him leaving in a strop. If he does well then great, but I can't see it on previous form.
