Diabolical defending £8.5 million spent on a class CB and we play a RB out of position naive decision he cost us the match Positives Pinto excellent, Naismith brilliant Tettey hopefully will buy some Imodium !
I agree that the efforts of the back 4 were atrocious but, as I said, Rudd does not make himself big enough or command his box. Look closely at the goals and I think that you will agree that he could have done better with 4 of the goals. How many goals have we conceded since Rudd replaced Ruddy?
The entire back five (including Rudd) were all at sea and didn't communicate or display any form of co-ordination (note that I did not use the word "defence" at all - there was no "defending" on show by us today). They played at times as if they did not know each other - fair enough in Pinto's case but the others ????? Need to get another CB in, and an LB to allow Brady to play LM. The absence of Tettey today was acute and that too is a worry should he get injured or (more likely) suspended.
Don't quite agree with you about Tettey, I think he slows the game down, is generally negative with his passing, sideways or backwards. We scored 4 today because we attacked quicker and for the first hour competed for every ball in midfield, we stopped doing that for some reason.
Rudd was not great today, but let's not forget how bad Ruddy was before being dropped and again against Citeh! Rudd might have done better on a couple of the goals today, but he was left hopelessly exposed and none were howlers! Still number one for me, though I might be tempted to look and see who might be available as an upgrade! Martin must not play again at centre half or maybe at all! Bah!
Only because Seb had gone walkabout. I just cannot see Klose and either Seb or Martin working. Bennett might be a better option unless AN has got somebody else to bring in.
Risk of appearing 'old skool' but I prefer Brady at LM as opposed to LB. He was also poor defensively today, so use his attributes in a more advanced role, where his pace and guile can hurt teams - imho.
Agreed Cromer - unfortunately, I read an article on the EDP website yesterday where AN said he prefers him at LB. I wonder if after today's poor showing, AN may change his mind??? Edit - “I think he is better at left-back than one further forward, if I am being honest,” he said. “I think he is better when the game is all in front of him. That is probably his biggest asset because it allows him to use his pace. I have got stats that suggest he crosses more balls from left-back than he does left-wing. The full-backs become wingers in transition whereas the modern wide player instead of hugging the touchline, as they used, find themselves inverted and coming inside and picking up pockets and holes. “For Robbie, he has had his most effective games, in my eyes, at left-back since he has been here.” http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...n_he_can_master_the_transfer_market_1_4389085
Yes, I saw that, cheers. I could imagine Brady wide left, Naismith behind the striker and maybe (as things stand) Vadis on the right. Then we might start cooking on gas
