DF also gave a glimpse at his tactics for the match:

"It was a complicated game. We played one of the best teams in the world. A team who knows what they are playing for when each and every point counts. They were highly motivated. Then you look at our situation with many key players unavailable. We had a difficult week. It was tough to find the right decisions. We had to play slightly differently. We had to try and allow Manchester City possession in certain areas and certain players. It was complicated to prepare this game. But my lads fulfilled everything in a perfect way."

Certainly we looked much tighter in the penalty area and forced them wide or deep much of the time. Aguero's goal was one of the exceptions and they had other headers, but most of the time they were forced to take low percentage shots. Byram and Lewis did well on the flanks with Buendia and Cantwell supporting them. Between them, they made it work.

It was just unreal the way EVERY fan supported the team and DF. yet at the beginning of September last year, there was a growing number of fans clamouring for DF and his staff to be sacked!!!
