Just for a change, no midweek fixture for us this coming week. But an early start next Saturday, as we're one of the five mid-day kick offs. (Why, I'm not so sure ) And it's an all championship affair, as we welcome the mighty Covvers to the fortress. The city that brought us the Specials, the Selecter, Keith Houchen and - more recently, James Maddison. The head to head looks a bit bleak - won 33, drawn 35 but lost 54. But hey, this is the F A Cup and as we know, form books and stats go out of the window for 90 minutes. It remains to be seen what calibre of teams both sides put out, but from a Norwich POV, the league is clearly paramount, so don't be surprised to see a few fringe players involved. Sam McCallum is on loan from NCFC, so may not be eligible - much more to follow on that nearer the time. Apparently, the match is live on BT Sport Extra 5 unless anything changes.
This couldn't come at a better time for us . Barden will hopefully get some minutes against strong opposition. Hugill has struggled to get going with his solitary goal from the penalty spot , Martin should get a start as well as a few academy boys . Rest Skipp Pukki Aarons and Handley maybe ? If we win then we might get some TV money but with the congested fixture pile up the FA Cup should be seen as a reserves fixture especially with our ongoing injury crisis. It's not like we can even get an away day at Arsenal or Chelsea as fans but it could be a good way of getting fitness levels and players pushing for first team action to prove themselves to Farke . I can see this one going to penalties
Good question, CS. Boris speaks in an hour. I'm reading there's a good chance of a suspension of the season for about a month. Any opinions from those of you in England?
So, elite sports like the PL can continue. Does that include the Championship League? https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-55538937
I think they said football could go ahead, but without fans. As I recall, the previous suspensions were called by the leagues rather than the government. Note: Prediction League participants are reminded that cup matches are not included, so no predictions for Coventry.
I could see a line up like the below: Krul/Barden Zimmermann Omabamidele Quintilla Tettey Vrancic Martin Dowell Placheta Hugill possibly Stiepermann or Thomas involved. Not sure who could play right back.
Krul is self isolating so Barden will get the gig. I guess McCraken will be back up. Will be good experience for Barden.
Onel Hernandez (adductor) and Bali Mumba (knee) are in Farke's plans for Coventry, with Mumba pushing for a start. Sam Byram (hamstring) remains sidelined, while Idah was a week away from stepping up his recovery from a knee problem prior to a positive virus test. https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...sletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=DM35276
I had a 3 month free trial of BT sports and not bothered watching Norwich play tomorrow and it just ran out. Can 2021 get any worse?
