if we have other players back and the game is dead an buried (either way) by the 70th minute then he'll stay on the bench I think. If there's 1 goal in it or we're drawing by then I have a nasty feeling that he'll chuck him on. Assuming of course we haven't lost another 3 players to injury up to that point.
Never, ever put a player on the bench you wouldn't or couldn't put in the team. It's football management 101. Maximin should not start, nor be on the bench, for this game. Therefore I absolutely guarantee three things. 1) He WILL be on the bench. 2) He WILL come on. 3) He WILL aggravate his injury. Steve Bruce 101.
If ASM is fit, he should play at least some of the game, same as other first teamers. That's a decision for the fully qualified medical and physio professionals at football clubs, in consultation with the injured player and the manager. It really is not anything we know much about.
This exactly. We seem to think we know more than a team of sports scientists and physiotherapists who will guage the players fitness based on a battery of tests and measurements. They will tell Bruce who is fit to be selected from. The idea that you would leave a player out for 3weeks even when declared fit by the medical staff is ludicrous. As is the idea that he was injured in the final minutes of a game he had performed at high intensity in, due to carrying an injury to a different part if his body.
Perhaps - and it’s just a suggestion - our medical team are to player fitness what Mike Ashley is to club ownership, or Lee Charnley is to football execs?
This has been said before, and ignored completely, as it will be ignored completely now. Once the narrative has been created and people have defended it, they will absolutely under no circumstances change their opinion no matter how ludicrous it is. You will simply be called dense. Of course, if he was deemed unfit to play he would not have been picked as Steve Bruce cannot simply ignore physio advise and play an injured man. And of course, the sore ankle that ASM had did not contribute to him sprinting in the 95th minute and pulling something. If he WAS nursing an ankle injury, he would never have ran like that causing the injury. I think some of the attacks recently are just people who have been told to shut up too many times, coming back to have their moment of glory because they've been wanting him to fail for weeks.
Next we will have the biggest Newcastle fan ever, and club legend Michael Chopra, popping up back on twitter with his told you so's, despite being one of the ****test footballing minds that Newcastle United academy has ever produced.
