Agree, the fact he had a row with Joe Jordan doesn’t bother me. Him being a **** human being and **** manager does though
"Use your body. Use your body. Grab him!" - NES Yeah, that's Lamela you're talking to. Don't think he needs to be told to do that!
I was making a list of players who Spurs could count on for the next couple of years to make an important contribution. My list consists of Hojbjerg,* who's currently running himself into the ground for Denmark, so let's hope he doesn't get hurt. *Yeah, there are some probable to very likelys....But Lloris is 34, Bale is already gone. Kane has demanded to go, Son won't sign a new deal, Dele isn't good against weaker teams, lo Celso was always hurt, I'm not sure both if Ndombele wants to stay and if fans want him to stay, Dier and Sanchez weren't good, Davis and Doherty are backup level, Alderweireld asked to leave, Rodon is unproven in the PL, and Aurier asked to leave. I guess we can count on Reguilon, but I'm not sure. What's clear is the need to build something that good players want to be a part of.
I've seen a couple of blogs try and make something out of CCV being seen in training I mean even if we're looking to offload him to Bournemouth or whoever at the earliest opportunity, that's no excuse to sit him out of pre-season training
Yeah it feels like slim pickings at the moment. I’m hoping Skipp and Rodon can join Hojbjerg and Reguilon in that list. Whilst it looks like Son may actually sign a new deal so hopefully him too. If Tanganga can avoid injuries and progress further I think he’ll be another. Lucas from a squad player perspective should be reliable and I hope Sess can make an impact too. Nuno and Fabio have got a huge task ahead though with the rebuilding process that’s for sure.
Various bits of scuttlebutt say Skipp and Sess are in Nuno's plans, although Troy Parrott will be loaned out again The obvious thing with Parrott, and indeed other potential loanees like White, Lavinier etc, is we really need assuranmces of regular minutes, especially after the last couple of seasons where a couple of our loaned players wasted half a season or more
Looks like Nuno has been able to work with Skipp from the off, sounded as though Skipp was initially going to miss some of the early pre-season due to the injury he got last season. Good to see.
The Pathetic report that we are not considering loans for Dane Scarlett or Alfie Devine this season The fact the former just turned 17 and the latter turns 17 in August might have something to do with that...
FootballDotLondon claim that Paratici's methods of navigating the transfer market involve negotiating for up to ten players at a time for just one position, and when one player is chosen the other nine negotiations are dropped - or, as Crusade Kings players call it, North Korea strat On the one hand this does have advantages, most obviously in having second or third etc etc options for every transfer instead of putting all out eggs in one basket and ending with eggy feet and (in theory, at least) it could keep transfer fees and wages down because we're able to say we're negotiating with half a dozen other players On the other it is quite likely to drive us up the wall as we're linked to Players X, Y and Z and end up signing Player T who was also in the negotiating pile, and our managerial search certainly shows that tactic in action given we were in negotiations for Conte, Fonseca and Gattuso in a very short space of time before bringing in Nuno which was bloody exhausting to keep up with, and imagine that in a transfer window if we're looking to overhaul the squad
And we'll piss off a lot of the people involved. Given we haven't brought anyone in I'd be surprised if we have 10 options for each position.
Everyone agrees that we need to upgrade two or three of our centre backs. That must mean signing two of the top hundred centre backs in the world. At least 30 of those are probably out of our reach and another 30 might not be a fit so I would think we are fishing in a pool of about 40. Narrowing it down to 10 seems like a good first step...
