Yes - and @glamexile will as well.

Wilson was a Scottish international and Dai (The Shadow) needs no introduction in Wales..... arguably, the finest British player never to be a Lion <cheers>

Had the pleasure of refereeing them ,when they played for Neath against Cross Keys. up in Cross Keys. The game was televised, but no record exists . Wish that there were a lot more of their kind about.

You must know / have reffed my great mate Norman Rees?

Not forgetting Brian Thomas, Dai Parker and Martyn Davies?

Dai is a great character. I knew Brian and Martyn really well.

I did a little bit of work with Wilson Lauder and I remember he used to walk like he ran so smooth, not showing any sign of effort.
Totally agree re Dai, the amount of work that man did in a game that went unnoticed

They say legend is often over used but I would put Dai in that bracket.

Knew a lot of players at that time. ..... The one I knew best was Big Bri Thomas, who was my Manager for a time at Felindre Works where I was an Inspector. .... At the time Brian was friendly with Gareth Thomas, who was an Superintendant at the works. Gareth had been a Scrum half for Neath before our time, but was still a huge Neath supporter. ....... What a bloody sight to see those two riding around the worke on a Lambreta, could hardly see the bike. And to think that these two were important figures in the Company.
Gareth was from Loughor, so was I, ....... So when I was selected to be a Touch Judge in an International, you would have thought that he would have given me time off from my weekend of afternoons, But no , the sod only offered me the day of the game. ........ So bugger it I went straight to Brian who was Manager,, and he gave me the whole weekend off with pay.. ..... Brian was a wicked bugger when you reffed him, but he made you laugh .

I knew Brian really well - hell of a nice guy. Had a Blue and earned it the right way - not doing some Mickey Mouse degree - he got his place in Cambridge on (educational) merit!
