One of the most perceptive things I've ever heard that Margaret Thatcher said was a response to the question "What was your greatest acheivement?". Her answer was "New Labour and Tony Blair". Unfortunately very, very true.

Believe me - the Labour party probably left you long before you left it. All those years of Tory rule led to a cataclysmic loss of confidence by the Labour party which basically decided that the only way to get power and stay in power was to become the Conservative party but with different colour ties and the advantage of not being a load of racist, sexist, weird old toffs.

By the time Blair had finished his vandalism the political argument was utterly surrendered by Labour - any even vague ambitions towards socialism were killed and we are now left in a world where the free market is apparently all there is and banks and corporations are the real powers. Blair made it so that now people can't even conceive of an alternative way of doing things: Outsourcing, PFI, privatisations - all nice money-spinners for those in power and their mates. Disasterous for society as a whole.

"Disasterous for society as a whole"? How did I manage to get back to Arsenal winning the cup?

Thatcher was being sarcastic when saying Blair was her greatest achievement, she had succeeded in turning him and the Labour Party into Conservatives. Labour has turned England into the world's doormat and my fellow Englishmen seen too docile to do anything about it.

I attended the annual conference on a few occasions as part of the AUEW delegation. At the time all the AUEW sponsored Labour MP's were people who had worked in engineering/manufacturing and had worked on the shop floor e.g.Stan Orme,Richard Caborn.Nowadays the majority of Labour MP's are middle class career politicians

She absolutely was not being sarcastic. Why would she not genuinely believe that her greatest acheivement was influencing the main opposition party to basically adopt her own policies forever more?! She helped turn a socialist party into a bunch of free market capitalists who wanted to cosy up to big business more than she probably felt able to.

Relevance? And I'm pretty sure you'll find that Ed Milliband is not Polish.

We now have three major party`s, at various stages we call the "The Goverment". The party name changes but nothing else. Time for some fresh new thinking to come forward i feel.

Ed Milliband's father was born in Belgium to Polish Immigrant jews, look it up.

Do all English constituencies have an English MP? Blair's a Jock who had an English constituency. Callaghan was Irish with a Welsh constituency. If you look back a tebbit's lineage you'l see welsh there. Thatcher only had two Englishmen in her cabinet, Clarke and Baker.

Er yeah - I know about Milliband's parents. Doesn't make him Polish. Milliband is British - born in Britain, raised there, educated there etc. Would you say Churchill was American? Do you seriously think that Milliband has a Polish passport? Or is a resident alien in the UK?

And why is all this "Taff", "Pole", "Jock" stuff relevant anyway?!

And why the hell anyone would give a single **** about looking back on Tebbit's lineage God only knows. There are many perfectly good reasons to dislike the man and absolutely zero of them have anything to do with which part of Britain spawned him.

Thatcher's true, but unintentional, legacy is that she made the entire country a little more selfish and spiteful.

People quickly grasped the idea that personal gain, to the detriment of the common good, was not only acceptable but desirable.

I'm all for personal gain but we've now created a monster in the form of an underclass that demands everything while giving nothing.

Sadly, they know their 'rights' but not their responsibilities ......... and that underclass is growing quickly.

The world is just a bit ****tier since Thatcher ..........
