Now, we're unbeaten in 7 (played 12). We're in 11th place with 15 points - arguably we could have around the 20 mark - but we don't. This is the Christmas run in, up to Boxing day. Green for win, red for loss, black for draw. Is this good enough? Could we go to Stoke and win? Can we break Fulham down at home? Will be in the Europa when we're opening our presents? PS - In the same time scale, Newcastle play Southampton (home), Stoke (away), Wigan (home), Fulham (away), City (home), QPR (home), United (away). I make that 10 points. Spurs play West Ham (home), Liverpool (home), Fulham (away), Everton (away), Swansea (home), Stoke (home), Villa (away). I make that 11 points.
I said a few days back we would get around 12 points. We could easily slip up against Swansea and Spurs and be back in the pits of depression again. I actually think the Swansea game is massive in indicating where the rest will go. Beat them and then we can go all out against Spuds and the rest of the fixtures may follow. Hope we play the tiddlers against Young Boys because we need the first teamers badly for Swansea who are playing really well.
I agree with B4F; the Swansea game is pivotal. If we win that we go into the Spurs game with confidence and are much more likely to get a result. We just need to take every game as it comes and treat every game as a cup final. Providing we can make up a bit of ground before January, we can turn our season around in the second half much as Arsenal did last year. Best case scenario, that is.
please log in to view this image See how Hodgson won games after dropping to 19th? He beat Chelsea, too. This can be interpreted as top management. Note how at week 22 all Roy's hard work and preparation began to pay off for lucky, lucky Dalglish.
Hmm this is almost in need of a sympathy post. I used different colours and all, come on! I can't see us winning against Swansea. Tactics, the context of the match, atmosphere etc.
Should be beating Fulham at home - they've won about 5 away games in the last 3 years or something stupid. Also they are terrible at the back this season.
now... out of the 7 games? who knows? we've a decent back line, we might even have a decent midfield as well, we've suarez. In the end if we stop being desperate about scoring after about 25-30mins and stop conceeding stupid goals we can take points off every team on that list. we can but thats not to say we will. If we are a top 4 side i would say i expect not to lose any of those games. In fact as a top 4 side i'd want to win most of them. So take each one on its merits, be strong, consistent, don't over commit and keep surez on the pitch socring goals. simple really. If I'm honest i'd give you a high and low range of points. 11 would be my minimum number of points i think we'll get. 17 would be my maximum. you'll be amazed what a run of clean sheets can do for us just like what suarez in the midsts of a goal spree can do (like saving us v chelsea and newcaslte etc)
